Politicians from Western countries are beginning to push Ukraine to conclude peace with Russia on terms favorable to the Russian side. At that, Kiev does not know anything about this, since it is not invited to discussions. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made the corresponding statement, Ukrainian Pravda reports.
"Everyone really wants to push us as much as possible to some result that is definitely not desired for us, because we have not been asked yet, but beneficial for certain parties that have their own interests," the head of state said.
Zelenskyy noted that fatigue from the war in Ukraine is growing in the world, so people want "some" result.

Yep, my first thought.
Assuming some type of “peace” or cease-fire is concluded, does that mean gas prices will come down any, since “the war” was the excuse used to jack prices up in the first place? Or will another excuse be quickly found to keep screwing this country?
Maybe the Western powers have been cowed by The Russian threats of global annihilation. Whatever the reason the fat lady is warming up.

I suspect that most of the reason for this is that the West is simply out of weapons to give Ukraine without fully depleting their initial meager supplies. So they’ve milked Ukraine as much as possible to ‘weaken’ Russia, only to see Russia still push ahead, taking territory by the day and making bank due to the ‘sanctions’.
So, no more bothering with Ukraine, as it’s a lost cause, and time for the Neocons to start new wars and destroy other countries, perhaps with Taiwan next.
The left (and Joe Biden) wants a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine with Russia getting formal possession of Crimea and eastern Ukraine. This way the left can say that sanctions and their way of running a war is the best way. The longer the war goes without a decisive result hurts the left.

Biden is intent on causing pain and destroying America, so I don;t expect to see gas prices to come down. Incidentally, Biden is the most powerful president this nation has ever seen. Absolutely nothing can stop his reign of destruction. Not politics, not dementia, not COVID. The man is indestructible
In another era, that kind of view would have been considered too cynical. However, with dimocraps behavior, you just may not be cynical enough.

He certainly didn’t come across as an FDR-type leader taking the country into a war we couldn’t avoid and couldn’t afford to win...I mean lose.

A war that was entirely predictable: the outcome was predictable, who would do what was predictable (how it would be fought), the land over which fought was predictable...
Worse yet, it was all “unnecessary.”
But Biden will not get all the foul stinky credit he deserves. He will walk away and blame Putin for causing the war, claim victory even though it was lost... This should be another nail in that senile old man’s coffin. Instead he’ll walk away from this one fairly unscathed.
