Lured by discounts, India in talks to double oil imports from Russia’s Rosneft

India is looking to double down on its Russian oil imports with state-owned refiners eager to take more heavily-discounted supplies from Rosneft PJSC as international buyers turn down dealings with Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine.

State processors are collectively working on finalizing and securing new six-month supply contracts for Russian crude to India, said people with knowledge of the companies’ procurement plans. Cargoes are being sought on a delivered basis from Rosneft, with the seller set to handle shipping and insurance matters, they said. These supply agreements, if concluded, will be separate and on top of shipments that India already buys from Russia via other deals. Indian refiners will increasingly procure supplies directly from Russian companies such as Rosneft as top international traders like Glencore Plc wind up their dealings, they added.

An unprecedented amount of Russian crude was heading to India and China last month as European buyers scrambled for replacements and reached as far as the United Arab Emirates for alternatives. The ensuing panic and rerouting of global oil flows have lifted prices by more 20% since late-February when Russia invaded Ukraine.

Refiners in Asia’s second-largest oil consumer have been enjoying elevated profits from turning cheap crude into fuels that are sold domestically and also in the export market to customers in Europe and the US.

Russian oil arrivals into India for May were at 740,000 barrels a day, up from 284,000 barrels in April and 34,000 barrels a year earlier, according to data from Kpler.

The Asian nation has reiterated that its volume of Russian imports are minuscule as compared to Europe’s purchases, and just a tiny fraction of the country’s total consumption.

US official Victoria Nuland just visited India to threaten them about this. Looks like it backfired.

Victoria Nuland was one of the key architects of the plan to turn Ukraine into a virulently anti-Russian state in 2014. (It voted half pro-Russian and half Pro-EU before this)

It was proven with a taped recording that she hand-picked the top government officials after the overthrow.

The Ukraine government would soon send extremists to brutalize ethnic Russians in Eastern Ukraine, setting the tinder for what is happening today.

If Biden withdraws his restrictive oil policies (i.e., the EO that killed the XL Pipeline and increased leasing and permit restrictions), we’d be selling to India and, in the process, reducing Putin’s funding of the war. Also, people could afford to drive to work again. But no, Biden’s too stupid for that. What a twit.

Yeah, the guys at The Duran were mocking the EuroTards about India laundering the Russian oil to sell on to the EuroPeeing market.

Nuland was the tip of the spear for the US organized coup that occurred in 2014

some neocon trolls here like to say “the US/State Dept/CIA wasn’t involved at all - to which I say BULLSH**

After the protests began in late 2013, Nuland, and Senators McCain and Chris Dodd shortly thereafter showed up in Kiev, and held meetings with and appeared on a public stage with people like Dmytro Yarosh - head of the Ukraine “Right Sector” (a collection of extremist, Neo-nazi, nationalist groups). The Right Sector’s thugs and agents were the ones occupying government buildings in Kiev and elsewhere - BY FORCE, with the support of the USA, to push out the democratically-elected Viktor Yanukovych

And why did Nuland say the infamous “F*** the EU?” Because the EU had arranged a deal where Yanukovych would stay in power, but would agree to a democratic referendum on EU membership and early Presidential election - Nuland would not have it.

If those 3, ChiComs, India and The Ruskies, could just get out their own way, they would have a freakin’ Golden Triangle.

Simple Highways and Railways to connect.
Air Travel would be a breeze.
Great deep water ports.
Endless Energy.
Lots of natural resources, and some pretty smart folks too.

What do we have? Empty desert and idiots below us, and an empty frozen wasteland with a few Hosers north of us.

One thing I was made aware of today, in the background about India’s position on Putin’s war on Ukraine, is that India got very little EU support regarding the recent Chinese incursions into Indian territory. For Indian foreign policy thinkers they see a European disconnect about global security concerns when it does not affect Europe directly, and then wants breaches of international security in Europe to be taken as a “global” matter.

The problem as some Indian’s see it is not that Putin’s war may be an existential issue for Ukraine, which it is, and a security issue for Europe, which it is, but European duplicity about such matters.

Unlike the EU Trump voiced his direct concerns with Modi over the Chinese incursions, as well as long standing U.S. agreement with India over Islamist terrorists operating out of Pakistan - with a wink and nod from Pakistan’s military-intelligence complex. What has Biden done to build support with Modi, other than complain about Indian “human rights record”.

Give me a break - never thought I'd see anyone on FR denouncing some other nation because they won't obey our senile president's orders. India is acting in its best interests. We could be doing the same if we had someone competent in the White House.

Pardon me, but I have never accepted India as a friend. For 20 years they’ve been dumping cheap labor on us to undermine our IT industry, overrun our country with their excess population, steal our intellectual property, and yes, side up with our so-called enemies, Russia. They are not her friend, we should not be doing any converse with you, we should not let any Indians into the US, especially not to work and steal. So yes, when they go against the United States and buy oil and two commerce with Russia, there should be Consequences. Otherwise everyone will just step on us whenever they feel like it. Oh, I guess they do now. We are no longer respected and feared, and people like you defend that loss.

And using Siri to transcribe, makes me sound about as coherent as Kamala Harris. Maybe she uses Siri to transcribe her speeches and then reads them as is.

“For 20 years they’ve been dumping cheap labor on us to undermine our IT industry, overrun our country with their excess population”

And is that India’s fault?

It is OUR fault that we’ve allowed it. It is OUR fault that we have let enemies destroy us. I’m not blaming India, I’m saying WE need to cut them off, send them home, treat them as the enemy that they are. Just like China, also Russia’s friend. India sends us cheap labor, China sends us cheap products. America loses in both. Sadly, they’ve won as there is no stomach to cut either or both off.

Not sure what the “problem” is. It appears that India is pursuing Indian interests as they see them. Like any sane sovereign nation would do. Ask Trump. Modi was paying attention, even if the EUsters weren’t, and is better off for it now.

As long as you don’t take it out on India for taking advantage of our STUPIDITY, I’m cool.
