"open carry" with the rifle "in a gun sleeve" and "under a piece of clothing".
Sounds like clumsy concealed carry to me.

Sounds like clumsy concealed carry to me.I'm surprised he didn't have it in an assault ankle holster.

I dunno. Sounds like the bad guy got all the damage. Seems like a successful open carry.

With what weapon did the robbery victim shoot the perpetrator?

It is unclear. The most common account is he retrieved a firearm from a vehicle.
There is video of the holdup, but it has not been released.

Police say the victim of the stolen rifle fired shots at Booker, who was struck multiple times. That victim left the scene, but police believe another man returned moments later and also shot the man who took the rifle. Is there anybody who ISN'T a "victim" in this story? What lousy writing.

Concealed carry of an AR full-sized rifle is difficult.
The 20MM Lahti is much better suited to conceal carry.

You really think he will ever get that rifle back from authorities?
To: marktwain
Could have been. But also could have been a case where the man with the AR didn’t want to leave the rifle in his vehicle and put a gunsock on it and under his coat to go in and get something from the store...
I know I’m always mindful of trying not to leave a weapon in my truck if possible.

"With what weapon did the robbery victim shoot the perpetrator?" VERY poorly written article. Best I can tell is that the guy carrying the rifle was concealed carrying a handgun in addition to the rifle, and that is what he used on the perp.

Well said. Open-carry advocates say it deters crime. I suppose that might be true - if the criminal is a reasonable individual who carefully weighs the odds and thinks things through.
Unfortunately, most criminals aren’t exactly Einsteins. They see something they want. They go for it.
As a side note, I live in an open-carry state. I was shopping in a Target when I saw another shopper open-carrying. He had a pistol on his hip, and he was looking intently at something on a shelf.
I I wanted his pistol, 100% chance I could have taken it.

The story lacks important details.
It would appear the rifle owner also was carrying a second weapon. And then another legal carrier entered to help.
Certainly a rifle carrier is going to get lots of attention entering a store. He needs a 60 minute tutorial on wisdom.

I want to know who the “another man returned moments later and also shot the man who took the rifle” is!
Sounds like the robber had some enemies!

Nope. Read the article!
He gave up his rifle.
Robber hung around long enough for victim to go get his pistol from his car.

Withholding judgement for more information. This article, or rather the reports it’s based on, is full of weirdness. Gun sleeves, partially covered, third party shooter, thief got the rifle so apparently the victim had a handgun as well(?), etc, etc. makes you almost want to ask if a bad haircut was involved.
