Beijing will "not hesitate to start a war" if Taiwan declares independence, China's defence minister warned his US counterpart on Friday (Jun 10), the latest salvo between the superpowers over the island.
The warning came as Wei Fenghe held his first face-to-face meeting with US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue security summit in Singapore.
US-China tensions have been soaring over democratic, self-ruled Taiwan, which lives under constant threat of invasion by China. Beijing views the island as its territory and has vowed to one day seize it, by force if necessary.

We should start an international campaign shaming the Chinese leadership and calling on the Chinese people to be granted true democracy.

The US should add that the United States diplomatic relationship with China is based on the expectation that the Taiwan issue will be resolved peacefully.

China is biding their time until they are confident they can defeat us.
China will not gain a darned thing taking Taiwan.
They will destroy any thing of value to the CCP Chinese.
Taiwan does have some strategic value location wise, but once you alienated the entire world what good is that, we don’t need the Chinese, they don’t develop anything, all they do is steal and copy.

Ever since Biden surrendered Afghanistan, the entire world has been emboldened to kick us in the teeth. None of this crap, including Putin/Ukraine, would be happening if Trump were still Prez.
Taiwan ought not declare independence but assert it is the legitimate government of China and the CCP are criminal outlaws. That would raise a stink.
Now is the best time for Red China to strike. Their leaders know half (or more) of the American people would never fight for that election stealing p.o.s. Xiden.
Knowing they can’t count on an America that could degenerate into civil war at any time, China’s democratic neighbors (India, Japan, South Korea, etc.) are building up their military forces. However, they’re still weak, especially in the nuclear deterrent field.
The Red bosses in Beijing know they have a window of opportunity to act aggressively now, but that window will shut in a few years once (a) America gets a *real* president, and (b) when the coalition of Asian nations mentioned earlier builds a credible nuclear deterrent.
Taiwan should declare a major outbreak of COVID. That will keep the mainland away.
