Portland resembles an 'open air drug market' after legalizing hard drugs: Overdose deaths skyrocket by 41% in the Democrat-led city as homeless addicts collapse on sidewalks

The streets of Portland resemble an 'open air drug market' after state officials' scheme to decriminalize hard drugs led to a surge in overdose deaths, critics claim.

Law enforcement agents say that the streets of Portland are full of homeless addicts openly buying and selling drugs and that signs of drug addiction are actually increasing statewide, Fox News reported.

Photos show the desperate situation in the liberal Pacific Northwest city, where people can be seen shooting up drugs or passed out in broad daylight.

If I was they mayor of a city, I would round up all my city’s homeless and street addicts, give them a big meal, a shower, a haircut, a new set of clothes, $300 - and a one way bus ticket to Portland.

It sounds like Portland is really the best place for them. They’ll blend in well and find a large community to join.

Do any liberal policies, on any subject, ever result in the people involved, or society, being better off?

Are these drug addicts really better off, with these lenient policies in Portland?

“””Portland resembles an ‘open air drug market’ after legalizing hard drugs: Overdose deaths skyrocket by 41% in the Democrat-led city as homeless addicts collapse on sidewalks”””

This headline reminds me of a visit I made to Copenhagen about 30 years ago. In a section of the city there were concrete block shelters on the sidewalk where the druggies would shoot themselves up.

About every 15 minutes I could hear an ambulance siren coming to pick up one of the druggies who had ‘super sized’ his dose that day.

Don’t you wish you lived in Portland? Doesn’t everyone wish
they did?

This is what total legalization of drugs looks like.

Enjoy...

Let them die. The world is a better place without the druggies. Drug-related crime is the result of the illegality. Every single illegal narcotic is cheap and easy to produce. We could legalize them and tax them to pay for the relevant health care costs. This would end the drive-bys and robberies that are the result of the price premium due to their illegality.
The Republic survived for over 150 years with legal drugs. There’s no intelligent reason to believe that this intrusive vestige from the soi-disant “Progressive Era” should persist.

Portland (Oregon) is probably the worst, but this is going on in many of our leftist-run big cities. And it’s easy to just say “good riddance”, but it’s not that simple. These people are responsible for making the cities nearly unlivable — tents blocking sidewalks, human waste on the streets, waves of crime, etc.

The Singapore solution of hanging drug traffickers and exiling three time rehab failures out of society is far more humane.
