A San Joaquin County family is calling on the sheriff’s office to answer questions about why and how they raided the family’s Ripon home Wednesday, with guns drawn and shields up, and children inside.
“Over the PA, they were saying, ‘Come out with your hands up with no weapons,” said Nicole McCurdy, who experienced the ordeal alongside her 3-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter. “I want to know why they had to use, why they had to point guns at me and my children. I would have answered the door.”

Good lord, where did you live?
Mayberry?
;D
Why the back row view is always better.
I’ve never sat closer than several hundred feet away from display, usually preferring an adjacent hill or field where I can still see.
I also avoid air shows.
:)
Gestapo; not police.

Are the great unwashed getting you down? I'm 100% positive that your neighbors don't like you much either.
I was just making a point. Public firework displays are not safe as everyone assumes. There have been many public displays that went terribly wrong. On the other hand, we put on private neighborhood displays for decades and there was never a single issue.
It was LAPD, and they were damn lucky there were not multiple fatalities in that neighborhood. Some injuries, but no deaths.
Nice.
Why did the SO do it? Because they could. They were very fortunate they were not murdered. The couple on Harding Street in Huston, Texas were given no such choice. The Police just drove up and started shooting. The couple were inside their house going about their day to day living. They never knew what hit them. The Police were so Gung Ho that they shot some of their men. Of course the Police blamed it on the couple they murdered.
You obey or get killed. Most of the t6ime you obey and get killed. Or at least shot.
No, but they’ll blow away all four walls and your kids will have nowhere to hide.
” I would have answered the door.”
And denied the cops all that fun?
They just love those “dynamic entries” and the chance to shoot dogs and stomp kittens.
Try coming to Idaho, fireworks are available and can be shot off all year round.
Never have problems.
Love it!
When I told my next-door neighbor that I know how to pick my neighborhoods in sarcasm, she said that things do happen in other places in the area as well. It’s not just my neighborhood, and, of course, the increasing crime that’s plaguing the rest of the states is present down here to some extent.
Before I closed on my house in this neighborhood, I was in an AirBNB in Warrington, just down the road from me. It was a nice enough little neighborhood, but I did hear the occasional gunshot down there, too. When I told some people in one of my running groups about that, he said, “I hope the place had bulletproof walls!”
To be fair, I only heard the repeated gunshots a couple times since I moved into my house.
The Pensacola area can get fire weather at times, too.
Well, that's another reason you wouldn't like living down here. Pensacola is the home of the Blue Angels, and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the summer, they practice in the area. Typically, one of them flies right over my house. Knowing you, you would likely wonder if you would get blown up going to the Wal-Mart on Navy Boulevard.
County, state, and fed aren't your friends, either.
