I read once the average price of an AR-15 is $1,250.00. 1,250.00 * 1000 = $1,250,000.00. Clearly un-Constitutional.
Wonder how many Cross-the-Aisle RINOs would be onboard with this “compromise”. Someone call Cornyn, Collins, Murkowski, Romney, etc...and ask them.
Actually, a 1000% tax on a $1250 weapon would be $12,500, not $1.25M. For percentages, move the decimal 2 places to the left...
Well, your math is incorrect.
1000% is only 10 times. so $1,250.00 x 10 = $12,500.00.
Still clearly un-Constitutional.
No, smart senior citizen husband says the tax would be $12,500.00.
It is 10 X 100% of the purchase price.
*1000 is not 1000%
1000% is *10. So $1,250 * 1000% = $12,500.00
“I read once the average price of an AR-15 is $1,250.00. 1,250.00 * 1000 = $1,250,000.00...” [ocrp1982, post 14]
“A thousand dollar weapon will then cost a million...” [Hostage, post 19]
Wrong. Decimal point has meaning.
1000 percent = 10 times the original amount.
Tax on a $1250.00 price would be $12,500.00.
Tax on a $1000.00 price would be $10,000.00.
Still confiscatory, therefore unconstitutional infringement.
