Source: Police never tried to open door to classrooms where Uvalde gunman had kids trapped

Surveillance footage shows that police never tried to open a door to two classrooms at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde in the 77 minutes between the time a gunman entered the rooms and massacred 21 people and officers finally breached the door and killed him, according to a law enforcement source close to the investigation.

Investigators believe the 18-year-old gunman who killed 19 children and two teachers at the school on May 24 could not have locked the door to the connected classrooms from the inside, according to the source.

All classroom doors at Robb Elementary are designed to lock automatically when they close and can only be locked or unlocked from the outside with a key, the source said. Police might have assumed the door was locked. Yet the surveillance footage suggests gunman Salvador Ramos, 18, was able to open the door to classroom 111 and enter with assault-style rifle — perhaps because the door malfunctioned, the source said.

Another door led to classroom 112.

Ramos entered Robb Elementary at 11:33 a.m. that day through an exterior door that a teacher had pulled shut but that didn’t lock automatically as it was supposed to, indicating another malfunction in door locks at the school.

Police finally breached the door to classroom 111 and killed Ramos at 12:50 p.m. Whether the door was unlocked the entire time remains under investigation.

Regardless, officers had access the entire time to a “halligan” — a crowbar-like tool that could have opened the door to the classrooms even if it was locked, the source said.

Two minutes after Ramos entered the building, three Uvalde police officers chased him inside. Footage shows that Ramos fired rounds inside classrooms 111 and 112, briefly exited into the hallway and then re-entered through the door, the source said.

This story is attributed to a "law enforcement source close to the investigation."

Who knows how accurate this story is, but...

It goes on to claim Arredondo didn't try the keys in the classrooms where the killer was. He tried the keys in other classroom doors to find the master key (?).

I think law enforcement and city council in the town is corrupt to the bone, all covering each other.

Has a single person even resigned over this colossal deadly failure?

These people are the most miserable failures of all time. Basically they all should have committed hari-kari already. And as for a malfunction, isn’t that what they said about the other door? I mean come on man, how many malfunctioning doors can one building have?

If there are no charges that can be brought against these people, they need to be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail. Literally. All of them. Literally.

Everything I read about the Uvalde massacre makes me sick to my stomach. Everything. And the news gets worse every time I read the latest.

Malfunction after malfunction sure sounds unbelievable.

Of course not

The police had their orders. Wait outside, arrest and pepper spray parents attempting to rescue the children

When an armed person ran, they looked away like cucks do, and the single man armed with only his barber’s shotgun did what the Uvalde policemen were too cowardly to do. Just like Broward County

Now the government wants to take away weapons, body armor and high capacity magazines from citizens. Ever wonder why?

Considering a border patrol agent killed the perp. Yup

It helps explain why the mayor expedited the chief’s transition to politician.

Malfunction after malfunction sure sounds unbelievable.

Very plausible considering the incompetent liberals running the schools these days. Great at indoctrinating the kids but the other stuff, not so much.

This makes a very compelling case against gun patrol. The police won’t protect you so who will?

On a discussion thread recently regarding Uvalde a former school teacher said that teachers should not be armed. I asked her if she were in that school would she have wanted to have been armed? Her answer: silence.

A Halligan tool is a crowbar on steroids. THAT was their “key”.

Cops will always bash and if they can, red flag, when it’s an easy target.

Otherwise they’ll stand back and collect the evidence only. Cops ONLY look out for #1 ALWAYS

But, per early reports, some officers went in to get their own kids out.

Just criminal....the neglect.

Uvalde Hires Private Law Firm to Argue It Doesn’t Have to Release School Shooting Public Records

The public records Uvalde is trying to suppress include body camera footage, photos, 911 calls, emails, text messages, criminal records, and more.

Public/federal funds will probably rebuild the school, among other things, but why should the American taxpayer be informed about anything...

You people are being unfair to the cops. You are making an unwarranted assumption regarding the responsibilities of the police.

SCOTUS clearly ruled that the police are under no legal obligation to protect you. Legally, they were “just doing their job”.

Yet, I suspect that the same SCOTUS would, at the same time, say they had the legal authority to restrain free citizens from trying to rescue the hostages.

It’s great living in a socialist paradise where the “law” is whatever the authorities want it to be at any given time.....depending on their needs.

You would think the parents - the voters - would want everything dragged into the open. Meanwhile Arredondo, school police chief and now councilman, and his buddies, want the history buried. How does Arredondi have any buddies now?

SCOTUS clearly ruled that the police are under no legal obligation to protect you.

And they don't want to let you protect yourself, either.

How did the Border Patrol officer get into the classroom to shoot the killer? Did a cop open the door and let him in?

The most basic facts about this shooting remain elusive. Meanwhile, Arredondo seems to believe that all he has to do is wait.

I’m amazed how worse it gets every time there is new info. How can these cops even show their faces in public?
