How long before being a Republican becomes a Red Flag issue?

Mark my words folks.

There will be another mass shooting if this bill passes.

Democrats will again demonize Republicans as white supremacists and in bed with the NRA and demand they compromise to pass another anti-gun bill.

And the next bill will consist of registration and outright banning of the AR-15 and other popular models.

And Republicans will throw in a tax credit and brag to the base on how they're standing up to the Democrats.

I'm hoping in all honesty that Democrats keep control of Congress. If Republicans win, they're not going to do a damn thing to impeach and prosecute Biden and his cronies.

Actually that isn’t what he meant by his post. Our politicians now only care about abiding by the Constitution if something in it directly applies to something that benefits them politically or financially. Otherwise, they seem to be hell bent on ignoring it. Especially when they want to infringe or remove or re-interpret the rights granted to the people.

The Senate Bill:

* Expands funding to states for juvenile mental health

* Adds any crimes committed by juveniles 16-18 into the FBI NICS system (Sunsets after 10 years)

* Redefines one "engaged in the business" of selling firearms from "livelihood and profit" to "predominately earn a profit." Thus, anyone who sells a firearm predominately to earn a profit is now "in the business" and would need an FFL.

* Creates an actual crime of a "straw purchase" of a firearm for another person, instead of the current lying on a 4473.

* Expands the definition of misdemeanor domestic violence to any 'dating relationship,' thus expanding the number of prohibited persons. (But prohibits retroactive application of this section to prior 'dating relationships.')

So far they have wrecked the US economy, corrupted America’s once pristine agencies including the court system, commandeered the free press and subverted it into a propaganda machine, hijacked the electoral process, and emasculated the US military. Now they intend to disarm the population. Half the American electorate is asleep at the wheel.

I’m reminded of an old joke: the Democrats want to destroy our country, and Republicans are willing to meet them halfway.

You’re wrong, and you sound like one of the conservatives I described. When our political hires take their oath to the constitution seriously, that’s when I will take them seriously.

Weird that they’d include the unconstitutional parts after SCOTUS has recently made such rulings, or is obviously inclined to rule against this legislation.

Carving out 18-21 as a category receiving strict scrutiny won’t pass strict scrutiny.
Tightening FFL definition to include “someone just selling off his collection for profit” won’t pass strict scrutiny.
Etc.

The NRA didn’t have a damn thing to do with this, they don’t support it.

I understand your frustration, but mine was more of a rhetorical question.

the NRA said:

The NRA will support legislation that improves school security, promotes mental health services, and helps reduce violent crime. However, we will oppose this gun control legislation because it falls short at every level. It does little to truly address violent crime while opening the door to unnecessary burdens on the exercise of Second Amendment freedom by law-abiding gun owners.

They are not endorsing this bill

Selling a collection is always best done via a FFL. Seen to many cases where the seller ends up in hot water

Both the NRA and GOA are on record as opposing this bill.
