We have an 80 year old, senile idiot and a 70 year old psycho playing chicken with the armies of the world. What could possibly go wrong?
Well I'm sure you would Sergei. Because that's about all you can do.
The US is itching to get NATO involved. I wonder how the Euro countries will react to a potential World War brewing in their backyard?
You should post memes of the idiots in D.C. who are about to get us all killed because we won't submit to them.
Hey, Rootin Tootin Putin, remember why we needed the Berlin Airlift. Karma is a Hillary, even if it took this long to catch up with you.
The principle of providing assistance
With the invocation of Article 5, Allies can provide any form of assistance they deem necessary to respond to a situation. This is an individual obligation on each Ally and each Ally is responsible for determining what it deems necessary in the particular circumstances.
This assistance is taken forward in concert with other Allies. It is not necessarily military and depends on the material resources of each country. It is therefore left to the judgment of each individual member country to determine how it will contribute. Each country will consult with the other members, bearing in mind that the ultimate aim is to “to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area”.
At the drafting of Article 5 in the late 1940s, there was consensus on the principle of mutual assistance, but fundamental disagreement on the modalities of implementing this commitment. The European participants wanted to ensure that the United States would automatically come to their assistance should one of the signatories come under attack; the United States did not want to make such a pledge and obtained that this be reflected in the wording of Article 5.

Article V states:
“The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them . . . shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them ... will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking . . . such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.”

Contrary to popular misconception, Article V does not require the USA to use military force to defend anyone. That is plain from its text. It does require the USA to take such action as the USA deems necessary, which can but does not have to include military force. The US might deem it necessary only to send a strongly worded letter.
Rather amusing given Russia’s constant threats about war and nukes. I believe one of Putin’s buddies in the Duma or foreign ministry was threatening more shoe banging at the podium.
Maybe the train blockade is the first step toward deNazification and liberation of Kaliningrad.
Sri Lanka is hard up for cash now. Maybe we can hire a bunch of them as mercs to roll in there like an ewok army.
Remember the Berlin airlift
I’m a Putinesta, according to many anti-anything-Russian freaks here on FR. But I believe that Putin and Russia have been engaged in a little dangerous rhetorical games on the topic of conflict themselves. Hypocrisy is running rampant these days, and not just in DC.
Putin has a lot of little fires to put out. Big ones too. It seems like all of NATO is ganging up on the skumbag.
If we don’t shut up, they’re going to nuke the urban populations in our largest cities. [Much talking ensues. Politicos in cities near our coasts tell us to shut up.]
one little nuke can ruin the whole day..Lets go Brandon
