- with McConnell and 14 other Republicans giving it a boost
The Senate voted 65 to 34 to end a Republican-led filibuster on the gun reform package, with final passage coming as early as later Thursday
Senators were working on an agreement that would allow them to expedite the process instead of waiting 30 hours for a final vote
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was among the 15 Republicans to vote in favor of the package
The House could pass the package by the end of the week House Republican leadership is encouraging members to vote against it

There is no GOP versus ‘Rats anymore. That notion has been dead for awhile now, folks are catching up though.
There are ONLY 2 parties - Deep State and Patriots.
If one wants to dig to next lower layer, Deep State includes ‘honest’ ‘Rats that tell us what they do and dishonest ‘Rats that hide what they do (McConnell, Cheney, Cornyn, Romney, etc).
Next layer Patriots would be those awake, those awakening, and those still asleep. The balance between these folks improving all the time.
“I will work very hard to prevent Cornyn from any public office.
He doesn’t want any other public office, than the one he has....which, btw, he recently won re-election for, with the help of his pimp, McYertle. His term expires in 2027.”
Just do like the left and create or find a juicy scandal.
Reconciliation won’t work. Do you know why? I do. Do you?
19 States have them already. Is that what has happened in those States?
Red flag laws are bad. However, 1. This doesn’t create a single red flag law anywhere and if you actually read the bill, the funding isn’t even tied to red flag explicitly. 2. Red flag laws in every locale are actually more difficult to implement than people thing. They don’t work like the average non-lawyer thinks.
I agree, he is probably a short-timer now.
I won’t vote for RINOS but I will never vote for a Democrat. I will leave that place on the ballot blank and no you RINO loving FR GOP groupies I am not helping the Democrats.
Your simple minded, purist-yeah you are the purist who demand total obedience to the Party that we always vote for these leftist Republicans regardless of what they have done, said or voted brought us to this point with this SFB RINO’s continually stabbing us in the back. At least with the Democrats they are up front about being liberals.
You all are either liberals or you like the lash. They stab you in the back and back you come for more, you’re like abused partner in a marriage, you get the crap beat out of you and told it’s your fault. You cry and sling snot and then when the liberal Republican Party needs you again they come winking and blinking telling you that you made them do that to you and if you would just do as they said this will never happen again and back you go to get the hell kicked out of you again and again and again by these leftist POS called RINOS.
Joni pulled an amber
Reconciliation as in the legislative process.
The Congress under Pelosi has done this before. Despite it being improper, they did it anyway.
what else is in the bill
"Since Heller and McDonald, the Courts of Appeals have developed a “two-step” framework for analyzing Second Amendment challenges that combines history with means-end scrutiny. The Court rejects that two-part approach as having one step too many."
IOW, it's DOA, even before Soros-DA's work their prosecutorial "black magic." At some risk to life and limb for possibly making interpretations that wouldn't be reflected by current laws to be upheld by SCOTUS, or in regions where Soros prosecutors "reign free [terror]," the citizenry should disregard laws that are clearly unconstitutional.
Given the "greeting" he got from the Texas state GOP convention, I would say that they have. At the end of this term, he is done....and I think he knows it.
That was one beautiful greeting. He should receive that everywhere he goes to publicly speak the rest of his life.
Budget reconciliation bills can deal with spending, revenue, and the federal debt limit, and the Senate can pass one bill per year affecting each subject.
That’s the only way around the filibuster.
This bill doesn’t fit any of those and the parliamentarian has already ruled on other non-budget bills.
They’d need a supermajority in the senate if they make substantive changes.
It won’t work.
REPEAL THE 17TH AMENDMENT!I consider that one of the most important FR stances of all, which I've been calling for since I joined in '99. Apparently "saner" voices say the 17th was a necessary remedy for corrupt state legislatures and over-representation of rural districts. Doh -- but it merely moved the corruption from one place to another and, worse, entrenched it in urban centers with no structural framework to get around that.
This scotus just might overturn any unconstitutional bill that makes it through
Remember it well.
I really do not expect the GOP do get some magic red wave in the midterms. They are nauseating losers.
They have destroyed the chance of a big turnout. What this will do is make a simple steal for the democrats look legit.
They’d make them private or something, but yeah.
Lets hope some of those votes were for the opportunity to vote no. But I doubt it.
“Given the ‘greeting’ he got from the Texas state GOP convention...”
