The cost and hassle of adopting is criminal. There are plenty of kids who could use a good home, but the courts, attorneys and birth parents have the system clogged.

There’s 3 supply streams of children for adoption. Domestic newborns, older foster care, and international, usually from 3rd world countries.

There’s 100k+ children whose parents rights have been severed who are available for adoption. They are older, most were abused or neglected and have emotional and physical issues. No one wants them. Most counties will assist you in adopting, some will literally pay you.

There’s an estimate that there’s about 35 prospective adoptive parents for each healthy white newborn that is surrendered. Those are the children that cost 10’s of thousands of dollars to adopt. You know where that money goes? To the lawyers and the agencies. The mother can only be payed “reasonable expenses”. You know why many change their minds? Once the child is born and they see and hold it they realize they are making a horrible mistake. No woman should be coerced into giving their child up. Maybe provide assistance to her so she can keep her child?

International adoption is a hornets nest of corruption, falsified documents, bribery, kidnapping, and human trafficking. The costs can be 10’s of thousands of dollars, much of it in “fees” to government officials. It’s honorable to want to provide a good home to a child in an orphanage living in poverty, but many of these children have families and don’t understand the western concept of adoption, but they are continents apart and by the time they realize what’s happened, they have no recourse.

So my point is this, it’s expensive, yes. But if you really want to adopt, there’s thousands of children available. It’s an honorable thing to want to do something for a child that has had a bad life. But adoption of children who already has a family only needs assistance for a time should not be coerced into giving away their child.

Over my dead body will any child, grandchild, or greatgrandchild of mine will be given to strangers.
