Refute what you said? The entire planet is laughing at you.

Iraq war my biggest regret, Bush admits

George Bush, in a moment of reflection ahead of his departure from the White House, last night admitted that the decision to go to war against Saddam Hussein on the basis of flawed intelligence was the biggest regret of his presidency. The acknowledgment marks the first time that Bush has publicly expressed doubts about his rationale for going to war on Iraq.

Jon, the US got buy-in from the UN and many Arab nations.

It was not an illegal war.

Do you remember anything about the war, other than the
popular beliefs today?

As for WMDs, it has been thought for a long time that Iraq
loaded all their gas agents and shipped them off to Syria.
A cash was found in the desert of a decent sized stockpile
of WMD level weapons.

I generally concur with the thought there were not nukes or
other agents found in Iraq, but that hardly explains away
Hussein’s actions that led UN inspectors to believe he did
have an ongoing nuclear program, because he would not allow
inspections, and moved things around a lot.

Democrats on Capital hill sided with Bush. So did
Republicans. The UN did. Other nations did.

Did not have any vested interest?

At that time a very large portion of global oil supplies
came through that region. Hussein wanted the whole of the
Arabian peninsula.

It was important for the U. S. and many other countries that
relied on that oil. We were not the only nation that
participated in that war either.

Other nations thought it important enough to join in.

So Bush was a limp D.

You didn’t know that?

He was saying what it popular now. Big surprise.

Did you refute a single thing I said? No.

Always slip sliding away into some other topics you think
you can score points on. It’s not working for you Jon.

Doughty, honestly, it’s not possible to refute scatological bursts.

Jon, you can’t deny historical facts.

It’s comical the tactics you use to try and win a discussion.

I recite facts about that war, and you don’t address a single
one of them.

Then you toss this out, “It’s not possible to refute scatological bursts.”

So history on the record is nothing but “scatological
bursts” to you?

Amusing...

Doughty, you're a lot of things, but absolutely no one is going to confuse you with someone who conveys historical facts to others.

If you have something to refute, go ahead.

It’s your turn.

refute, refute, refute

You have me at a disadvantage, Doughty. If I refuted you the way you should be, you'd get your feelings hurt and probably say I called you names and god only knows the trouble I'd be in.

All you have to do is pick something I said, you know not to
be true, and explain why you know it isn’t.

I’m talking about the things that are historical. Pick one
of them and challenge me.

If you can’t, you can’t. I’m not trying to force you do admit
you have egg on your face. I would simply appreciate you
addressing the factual history, you say I don’t provide.

Sure.

Your justification for the Iraq war is nonsense, as per George W Bush.

presented.

Thanks.

George Bush is your go to guy huh?

Jon, I don’t come to decisions lightly, and then run from
them like others do.

I supported the war then. I support it now.

Based on the historical facts you agree with, I still support
our involvement in that war.

It wasn’t his war. It was our war. It was Europe’s war.
It was the Arab’s war, the ones that signed on.

The UN signed on also, and as much as I loathe the UN,
what other way is there to get all the “T”s crossed and
“i”s dotted for an operation like that to take place
legally?

A lot of other nations agreed with our efforts.

You really don’t remember it well do you?

Powell said that backing the war in Iraq was a ‘blot’ on his record

Colin Powell's legacy will always be tainted by his worst mistake

Have you read any of Powell’s statements against Trump? For
that matter, have you appreciated his Leftist slant over the
last five to ten years?

At one time I had high hopes for him. He dissolved right
before our very eyes. I don’t pay him any attention any
longer.

Why do I revert to the same decision I made back in the day?
I do so because that opinion was derived in real time, going
by what was happening in the day.

Yes, we found that the claimed WMDs and programs did not
exist. Did we know that going into the war? No.

The UN thought Iraq had them. Europe thought they had them.
The Democrats thought they had them. The Republicans
thought they had them. It was generally thought they were
up to no good.

For the good it does, our clandestine services thought they
had them. Either that or they were lying. I never based
my opinion on whether he had them or not. I mentioned the
things that made me support the war earlier.

Let’s back up and address the Iraq we all knew. It was a
nation whose leader gassed the Iraqi kurds in the North.

He had the chemical agents to carry that out. Why should
we think he had completely removed them from his stockpiles?

Those are also considered to be WMDs.

Jon, please understand the Vietnam stance of the Left quickly
overcame their temporary alliance with the Right when it came
to the Iraq war.

They made claims that weren’t true, and slanted every report
to advance their cause, not our nation’s. Powell had Bush
both had those revisionist versions of policy tossed at them
day in and day out over the years.

Since they agreed with the Left on many things, the finally
decided to put the war to bed, and simply admit what the
Left was dying for them to admit. (As if it would curry
long term favor for either of them )

McCain was famous for pulling that same routine often
enough. When he ran for president, they trashed him as if
he had never sided with them. He still never got it up to
the end.

He considered Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton two of his
best buds.

This is the Colin Powell and G W Bush I’ll continue to
know every time I see them.

I do not go running to Jim every time someone disagrees with
me stridently.

That happens more times that you know. I just don't bother
Jim about it.

I discussed my beliefs and memory regarding the Second
Gulf War today. I tried to present facts that I know to
be true, for you to consider.

When given the opportunity to disagree you chose not to
point out something you thought was untrue.

I didn't see anything worth talking to Jim about. If you
had objected to what I stated, I would have tried to
document that it did take place as I stated.

Some folks may be convinced I wield a lot of power here,
but I do not believe that to be true. If they approach
Jim about me and he disagrees, I don't hear about it and
have no input regarding it.

I disagree regarding Putin, and who he really is and has
done. I think folks are buying into a different world view
that sees the US as the evil empire.

Sooner than later, you folks are going to have to wake up
to what true evil empires are like.

Russia and China will reveal it better to you than I can.

Doughty, I don’t give a rats who you know or who you talk to, you went out of your way to argue with me and you embarrassed yourself doing so. The Iraqi war was the biggest mistake of my lifetime, prosecuted my morons who today recognize their mistake. Not that it will help someone like you who is eager to follow President Diaper to the next Neocon mess. In closing, cry to whoever you want to. You seem like someone who would.
