Of course they won’t back it. Without a filibuster, the type of legislators that like to sit on the fence and sell their votes to the highest bidder would have no power.

Ding ding ding we have a winner. “Moderates” are nothing more than votes for sale that’s it and all it ever was it will be. They will hold on to the filibuster like a crack head to their crack pipe.

The Dems and media (like Chris Plante I repeat myself) keep lying about codifying Roe. The bill that was defeated in the Senate a few weeks ago would have prohibited any restrictions on abortion up to birth in any state. Dems only voted for it because they knew it was not going to pass and they wanted a talking point for November.

The last thing the media and Dems want is an honest debate on abortion restrictions because they don't want any. So instead they will posture and play the filibuster game.

They have had 50 years to bring this to the Congress to Codify, why didn’t they?

The left wants abortion to the moment of birth. The American people do not. Dems don't want to go on the record supporting one side.

Sinema has voted against guns and for all kinds of lunatic stuff lately. And Manchin was hollering for aborting kids. The only good thing about it is we always got hung up on a nail or tripped over pieces of straw when we were in power and now it’s happening to them.

Thank you for referencing that article RummyChick. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

"Democratic Senators Manchin and Sinema WON'T back changing filibuster to codify abortion [??? emphasis added]: Biden's plan to protect Roe in Congress looks dead in the water with moderates refusing to budge"

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Kudos to Sens. Manchin and Sinema for taking a stance against desperate, election year Democrats.

But filibuster or no filibuster, why isn't the post-17th Amendment ratification Senate RINO minority killing the constitutionally indefensible Democratic push to codify the legal murder of unborn children by pointing out that the states have never expressly constitutionally given the feds the specific power to dictate policy for abortion?

"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]." —United States v. Butler, 1936.

Insights welcome.

Also, Trump's red tsunami of patriot supporters are reminded that they must vote twice this election year. Your first vote is to primary career RINO incumbents. Your second vote is to replace outgoing Democrats and RINOs with Trump-endorsed patriot candidates.

Again, insights welcome.

> "I suspect it would be like the 55 MPG Speed Limit and 21 year old Drinking Age....tied to federal funding. States that ban abortions would get cut off from federal Medicaid funding and states that allow abortions would receive federal Medicaid funding."

Bingo.

Unless we abolish Medicare/Medicaid, they will eventually force abortions, gender mutilation, and firearms confiscation on us (I am looking at you McConnell and Cornyn).

We are one conservative Supreme Justice retirement, voluntary or otherwise, from losing everything, and it seems to all hinge on what happens in GA this election.

We will lose Georgia and Warnock will keep the seat.

We will also lose Pennsylvania, which will be a gain for the Democrats in the Senate.

Both are thanks to Trump's lousy endorsements.

Those two senators have some morals in their Character. They are DINOS and not true democrats. They are admirable in their makeup and vote with their consciences rather than just going along with their party. I admire both of them. I do not, however, feel the same about Joe Biden!

We will always have many battles to fight (either legislatively or one heart at a time) in the battle over abortion. But this attempted attack by the Dems was stillborn even before dissident Dems shut it down. You can bet your bottom dollar that it would have gone before SCOTUS, who would simply have said “You should have read the Dobbs decision you boneheads. This issue belongs with the states. 10th Amendment. Go away.”

The US Supreme Court just ruled that abortion was a STATES’ RIGHTS issue. It’s just like the DemoNAZIS to think that they can do away with the rights of the states by usurping power.
