Newsmax Host Rips Into 'Career Politician' Ron DeSantis Over Potential 2024 Run Against Trump

As the Republican Party seems to move away from Donald Trump, Newsmax host Greg Kelly says it is too soon to jump to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Newsmax’s top-rated host Greg Kelly warned Republican Governor Ron DeSantis on Friday night: Don’t take on Donald Trump for president come 2024.

The declaration from the primetime star comes more than two years ahead of a 2024 general election and months ahead of the 2022 midterms, as behind the scenes, Republican Party lieutenants mull potential 2024 GOP presidential contenders.

“Governor Ron DeSantis. He is amazing, so talented, so smart, unlimited political future. I want him to be president someday,” Kelly began his Friday evening show as a graphic appeared on screen stating, ‘Not Yet, Ron.’ “I think that’s almost guaranteed to happen, but I’d rather not see him run in 2024.”

The message from Kelly comes while Trumpworld remains unsure of precisely when a Trump 2024 campaign announcement might come. The New York Times reported Friday that Trump could announce his candidacy “unusually early,” and the news may come not at a rally but on social media.

After airing a highlight reel of the Florida governor taking aim at reporters, Kelly heaped on the praise before cutting to the chase.

“Let’s face it, though, he’s borrowing heavily from Donald Trump style and agenda and policies, and that’s fine,” he said. “That’s totally fine, but I’m hearing from more and more Republicans. ‘Well, you know, Donald Trump has all that baggage, and it’s time for a fresh face.’ Don’t fall for that argument!”

Kelly then dug in, arguing that, unlike Trump, DeSantis could be considered a “career politician.”

“Let’s see, he’s forty-three now, on Election Day in November of 2024, he would be forty-five years old. Now, here’s the thing. That makes him, what, three decades younger then-President Trump. I'm not saying that’s a good thing, I’m saying he’s got plenty of time ahead of him to make his move, but not now, and there are some things he needs to clean up,” the primetime Newsmax host said. “Just a little bit.”

The Newsmax host added that in 2018, he believed DeSantis should have easily defeated then-Democratic candidate, Andrew Gillum. Yet, instead, he said DeSantis was “nervous” and “fidgety” during a debate.

“I think he [DeSantis] needs work on that,” he added.

Further, Kelly chalked up DeSantis as a wannabe Trump clone.

“Obviously, he [DeSantis] has studied President Trump very, very carefully. You can kind of see it in this picture in Mar-a-Lago. I mean, they’re very similar, and I think DeSantis inhaled so much from Donald Trump,” Kelly said. “The agenda, the style, it is all Trump’s.”

“He [Trump] changed everything, changed everything, and I think he can change it again,” the host concluded. “Here’s an idea, although constitutionally it may be complicated, Trump [and] DeSantis, on the same ticket?”

Kelly is stirring the pot, trying to drum up ratings.

I wish our side would stop with this crap. If 2020 isn't fixed, then it doesn't matter who runs in 2024. The Dems will probably keep control of Congress again if 2020 isn't addressed.

Besides, DeSantis has already said he's not going to run if Trump runs. Trump is owed a 2nd term (Hell 2 terms, since his 1st term they tried to destroy him) and DeSantis knows this.

Trump 2024!

The GOP might want to move away from Trump, but the voters don’t.

The Desantis Push is a Deep State, Dem, RINO, MSM ploy to split the base to bail out the disaster that is the Leftists and Dementia Joe. Creating a split within the Republican Party base is their only hope. And, they know this. So, they are engaged in a Full Court Press to push the Desantis vs Trump meme.

I am not a fan of Newsmax.
They denigrated looking at the obvious voter fraud ('every thing was on the up and up with the election').
I'll stick with OANN.

Basically the opposite is happening here.

1) Kelly is trying to put an end to the people who are trying to stir the pot and push Desantis.

2) The pot stirrers on our side are the the ones who are saying I “love” Trump but he has too much baggage, I’m sick of January 6, forget 2020. Enough already, and let’s move on to Ron Desantis.” That’s part of the reason this January 6 committee is going on so people get sick of Trump. Don’t fall for this.

3) Desantis has not said he won’t run against Trump. The “crap” is going on because of Desantis. That’s his right not to say if he will run or run against Trump, but it would be nice if Desantis came out and showed Trump some loyalty. Trump deserves so loyalty and Desantis should say he isn’t running against Trump. Desantis is young and should try working in the private sector for a bit or working under Trump for 4 years. I don’t want my President to be in his 40s. We tried that with Bill Clinton. I’m also not into the career politician thing.

DeSantis is being hyped to hurt Trump.

I am for Trump he disrupts the RINO’s.

DeSantis signed off on a 15-week abortion law in Florida.

Heck Emmanuel Macron got France to up its allowance for abortion to 14-weeks this year from 12 and he touted that as showing his “pro-choice” credentials before the April election that Macron won.

So DeSantis supports a more liberal abortion law than the one Emmanuel Macron gave to France this year.

I see other Republicans pushing this 15-week notion.

It’s strange Ronald Reagan did not use a week forumla for abortion he simply said “rape incest or the life of the mother” were reasons for abortion.

Reagan’s position considered “conservative” in the 1980’s but liberal when he signed the law as Governor of California pre-Roe Vs. Wade in 1967.

It’s not imaginary. For instance on Friday the WABC morning show which were Trump supporters are now saying forget Trump because of the January 6 trial and all the rest and they are ready to move on to Desantis. There is A LOT of this going around. It’s time someone said something. It’s not Ron’s turn.

Doesn’t take away from what was said here. This BS with people pushing Ron Desantis because they are “sick” of January 6 (that’s what the J6 Committee is HOPING you do) and all the rest has got to stop.

It’s Trump’s turn. Ronny D needs to stand down. The Rinos and NeverTrumpers all the rest saying let’s move on from 2020 and dump Trump, are fools. You move on from 2020 and Trump, you are saying death to America. Because what they did to Trump they will do to the next guy - Desantis, Cotton, whoever.

Ditto. As I’ve said repeatedly on this forum: I support DeSantis. I understand those who want Trump; I just disagree he’s the best choice. We don’t need our own people forming up the circular firing squad. Plus I credit DeSantis for his honorable service in the JAG corps. A “career politician” means just that. Shumer and Biden are examples. DeSantis is not
