With Luhansk Province firmly in Russia’s grasp after weeks of brutal fighting, the country’s military forces on Tuesday were already setting their sights on the next target. On the outskirts of Bakhmut, a key supply hub for Ukrainian forces, the Russian Army was ramping up its shelling as an apparent prelude for an inch-by-inch offensive into the province of Donetsk.
In Sloviansk, one of the cities in Donetsk that lies in Russia’s path, the mayor, Vadym Lyakh, urged residents on Tuesday to flee the city, which he said was now on the front lines. “Artillery is already hitting the city,” he warned in an interview on Ukrainian television,
Sloviansk and Bakhmut are likely to be the next cities to face the brunt of the Russian war machine, analysts say.

It is a shame how little $40 billion buys these days.
The Ukies are now serving conscription papers for all men 18-60, the interesting part is by law they must be served in person. Ukie social sights report the papers are being served in churches on Sunday in western Ukraine.
In addition, Poland is now rounding up the 18-60 year old men who are in their country and sending them back by bus loads to Ukraine.
Grabbing 60 year old men out of church and sending them to Vlads meat grinder smells like desperation….also reports of females now being served with conscription papers.
The well known EU saying: After shaking hands with a Ukrainian, be sure to check and see how many fingers he stole….
Perhaps our 40 Billion could be used for 1 big fireworks show at least?

Russia is playing the Chechnya strategy. Plodding and low tech artillery pulverizing defensive positions in and around cities until there is nothing much left to defend. Crude but effective.

Yeah, I saw that - I don’t think it’s something to laugh about.
Basically the Chechen islamists are saying they’re doing Islamic Jihad in Ukraine because Putin green-lit it... and they’ll take it wherever they want to take it, unless Putin steps in to stop them.
Problem is, the Chechen Islamists have different war aims to Russia and are simply enjoying a carte blanche in Ukraine they never would’ve had without Russia’s demented Special Military Operation.
They are waging war on orthodox Christians and other assorted non-Muslims in Ukraine without caring if they’re pro-Russian or not... which does rather make a laughing stock of the idea Putin sent them in to de-Nazify Ukraine.
I know the enemy of my enemy is my friend, but... dang! Chechen Islamists view all apostates and all non-Muslims as fair game. They’ve even executed Russian soldiers for refusing to attack unarmed civilians.
Which, if you think about it, is such a shit-show that the only way to compute it is... Imagine if the USA invited Al Qaeda to help sort out the southern border issue, gave its leader a huge war chest, and then looked the other way as AQ start shooting the border guards in the back.
If ordinary Russians thought that Azov nazis were bad, you wait and see how they respond when they find out that the Chechens are quite happily killing the Russians they’re supposed to be working with!

The Bloody claw hammer approach—You just keep hitting until your foes are dead or cry Uncle. Old tactic—works well. Sherman used it to cut the guts out of the Confederacy, the 8th Airforce used it to rip the industry out of the Nazi State. Plodding and bloody—not nice. War is an ugly business and one that shouldn’t be used unless forced. War should be the last option—never the first.
Sherman used it against civilians which made his approach easier albeit criminal.
A closer example would be Grant in the last year of the war. His army took heavy losses at fights like Cold Harbor but in the end he had an overwhelming advantage in manpower and materiel.

I was aware, good luck to them. Reading the Ukie social posts, this is not going to end well for the corrupted little beggar. Many are starting to call for Zelensky’s ouster. Rumblings of a military coup to widespread disobedience. Their losses are horrendous, both militarily and economically.
Zelensky was elected to seek peace with Vlad, he failed, the anti- Russian mindset ( energized by the Neo Nazi’s) was NOT indicative of the populations desire to end the civil war that started in 2015.
Civilized nations do not draft their women, it is a nation’s suicide. Motherhood has been sacred for centuries. Even Hitler in WW2 did not cross that immoral line…..nor did Russia- conscription was limited to males 18-28 ( but woman volunteers were welcomed). Some will argue, but woman were put to work in factories ( Zelensky has none left) to support the war.
Just another sign of desperation, Zelensky has failed his nation, miserably, and the people are waking up. There is much more to this story than simple “defiance”. Like Biden, the EU, and the West , everything they are doing is destroying their nations with no regard for their citizens. Designed?
