Voters sick of Biden, Trump may look to independent candidate in 2024 White House race
The Washington Times - ^ | July 6 | By Susan Ferrechio

Voters, unenthusiastic about a Trump vs. Biden rematch in 2024, are increasingly open to dumping the Republican and Democrat ticket entirely for an independent candidate.

Two recent polls show a majority of Republican, Democratic and independent voters would consider a “moderate independent candidate” for president if President Biden and former President Trump run again in 2024.

“Our observed aversion to the former and current president as voters begin thinking about 2024 tickets is a major opening for an independent presidential ticket,” Mark Penn, chairman of the Harvard-CAPS Harris Poll, which conducted the two surveys, said.

The poll of registered voters, taken at the end of June, found that 60% would consider an independent candidate in 2024 if Biden and Trump are their respective party’s nominees in 2024.

Among Democrats, the number rose to 64%, while 53% of Republicans said they’d weigh an independent candidate. Among independent and other unaffiliated voters, the number shot up to 66% who are willing to give an independent candidate a close look.

I think that conservatives would be much better off with a very conservative candidate other than Trump on the Republican ticket

Trump is running. Get over yourself.

I preferred it when the Libertarian Party ran candidates whose only qualification was putting out an investment newsletter.

Then they could be completely ignored.

If Amash comes out in favor of a carbon tax I won’t vote for him. That’s the #1 reason in 2016 I voted for Trump instead of Gary Johnson.

Justin Amash for president?

You could ask 1,000 people on the street, “who is Justin Amash”, and only 1 person would have heard of him, and that’s only because the person confused the name with Justin Bieber.

Only because the issue of slavery forced one party into extinction and split the remaining party in two.

Voters, unenthusiastic about a Trump vs. Biden rematch in 2024,

"Voters"? Yeah, a total of 3 of the them are sick.

Are you talking about Ron Paul?

He ran in 1988 I think

Way before my time.

The LP has ballot access in nearly every state. Their candidate could be a player next time especially if you believe these poll numbers.

No such candidate exists.

Ah yes, the “moderate independent candidate” - always seems to assist the dems in winning the White House - see Teddy Roosevelt’s “Bull Moose” temper tantrum that unleashed Woodrow Wilson on the nation and Ross Perot’s personal feud with the Family Bush which unleashed the Clinton nightmare upon us.

You don’t need to be qualified to be President. To prove this, look at Biden

But you must be a well connected career politician, you know, part of the insiders club...Like Biden is.

If you are seriously considering “Palestinian” antisemite anti-American Amash, then I’ll consider that an opus on your part.

I think it would be a wonderful idea to find a liberal to run against Joe Biden as an independent. Someone that would cause chaos in any attempt to gather up large numbers of ballots with votes for Joe Biden in urban areas that somehow voted overwhelmingly for Joe in the last election.

There are a number of people who could fit that role, and let Democrats and liberal leaning independents vote for someone they really want.

Liz Cheney is probably waiting for their call, but a better choice would be Bernie Sanders, or Tulsi Gabbard, or Kanye West, or even Michelle Obama. Maybe even Howard Stern, who says he is running.

This is a retarded article. An independent candidate that no one has ever heard of has no chance.

The author is delusional.

Ross Perot got almost 20% of the vote in 1992 and didn't win a single state. In fact, he only came in SECOND in one state (Maine) by a very narrow margin.

Trump is the ONLY person with the balls to fight the deep state, he has learned a hell of a lot about the corruption and the tentacles of the deep state I will be very curious to see how much of a wrecking ball he will take to it all if of course they don’t assassinate him during the process and no I am NOT kidding!!!
