Illinois Has All The Gun Laws Republican Senators Caved To Push States Into, And That Didn’t Stop The Highland Park Killer
The Federalist ^ | JULY 06, 2022 | JORDAN BOYD

In a bizarre move, Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart told the public and the press on Wednesday that he believes red flag laws in Illinois are “strong” even though the state with some of the strictest gun laws in the country failed to stop a 21-year-old shooter from murdering seven people at a July 4 parade and injuring at least 30 more.

While announcing seven counts of first-degree murder charges against Robert Crimo III for attacking paradegoers in Highland Park, Illinois, over the long weekend, Rinehart praised his state’s gun laws and called for a national ban on certain types of firearms.

“Illinois has a strong red flag law that keeps the community safe and respects everyone’s rights. We must vastly increase awareness and education about this red flag law called the Illinois Firearm Restraining Order,” Rinehart said.

Bring back strong oak trees and short ropes.

There has to be a cost, an immediate cost, a terrible cost.
F the lawyers and all their games .

When it’s totally clear cut, like this is, just DO IT!

I volunteer to slap the horse

Bill O'Reilly mentioned federalizing all gun crimes.

I would agree with this if the 1968 Gun Control Act and the 1934 Firearms Act were repealed entirely. This would imprison all the gang-bangers because they commit the vast majority of gun crimes anyway.

I live in Hellinois. I'm a FOID card holder and Conceal/Carry Permit holder.

So I know the gun laws in this state.

Every word the Federalist printed here is accurate.

Illannoy does not have anywhere near the most restrictive gun laws in the country. They used to but since 2014 not anymore. The main problem is a list of off limits places. Very, very few businesses are posted no guns allowed..at least in the exurbs of shitcago I prowl. I just wish we could get open carry outside of hunting.

I suggest we start calling Cornyn the leading spelunker in the Senate, or Senator Spelunker, or Super Spelunker. If anybody asks, he is the biggest expert practitioner of caving.

“nationwide assault weapon ban”

Dems just got a RHINO supported gun control bill passed. Come back in twenty years for more.

Prickster is demanding passage of one. Despite the fact that no military in the world uses an AR-15.

Well, he’s a democrat. I certainly disagree with him on an “assault weapon” ban,
but as a far as red flag laws go, well, the laws are only as good as the people who enforce them.

I'm with you.

Reality: the Democrat Controlled State Legislature is gonna deliver what fat boy wants and he'll sign it knowing it'll take 3-7 years for it to work through the US Supreme Court before it gets shot down.

This is how the Democrat Fascist ASSHOLES operate.

I live in Illinois too, and concealed carry as well. I totally agree with you and the article, but the writer falls short in naming a few obvious reasons why this tragedy occurred.
1. The kid’s mental state, first and foremost.
2. The failure of medical professionals to report his behavior to…
3. Law enforcement professionals, being the local police AND the Illinois State Police, and
4. The kid’s parents, the dad particularly, for helping to get his head case son
a FOID card.

All the “Red Flag Laws” we have are meaningless if no one enforces them.

This one right here, IMO warrants criminal prosecution.
