Chicago police have released a photograph of the weapon used in the Highland Park mass shooting on 4 July, where seven people were killed and dozens injured.

On Monday evening, police arrested 22-year-old Robert “Bobby” Crimo after an hours-long manhunt around the city north of Chicago.

A spokesperson for the Lake County Major Crime Task Force said the suspect used a rifle “similar to an AR-15” from atop a commercial building and fired into a crowd that had gathered for the parade in Highland Park.

On Wednesday night, the police released a photograph of the weapon, reported News Nation.

The Highland Park shooter used a Kel Tec Sub2000, which is NOT like an AR15. It is foldable pistol caliber carbine.

And his father thought he was going to use it at a shooting range. Would it normally be used there?? Strange weapon.

A fairly well-written article I read yesterday said that he used a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 in the shooting and that the Kel Tec pictured was recovered from his vehicle when they arrested him. Who knows what the truth is; the media is so incompetent.

Yes it can be used at any shooting range where centerfire cartridges like 9 mm, or 40 caliber can be fired.

Read the article. Not the headline.

“ According to prosecutors, the suspect fired more than 80 rounds, reloading three times, before fleeing down a fire escape while disguised as a woman and melting into the crowd.

Authorities added that while he went down the fire escape, the weapon fell out of his bag in an alley.

The rifle was found with three 30-round high-capacity magazines and 83 spent shell casings around the scene.”

———-

How can the gun be photographed in the car, if it fell out of his bag in the alley?

Where are the 30 round magazines? The Sub 2000 uses standard pistol mags and extended pistol mags are not in the photo.

This article says he used a S&W M&P-15.

I’ve seen other articles where he had four guns.

Chicago Sun Times said in an article yesterday that the rifle was a Smith & Wesson M&P15.
They showed a picture of what I assumed was the rifle.
Sounds like the media messed up again.

Chicago police have released a photograph of the weapon

What would Chicago police have to do with it? Highland Park is not a part of Chicago nor is it in Cook County. Or is this a case of lazy reporters?

The gun in the picture is clearly in a car.

The only thing I can think of is that they might be using Chicagos forensic resources.

Must have been the 40 cal gun.
I didn't hear anything about lungs laying around the street so it couldn't have been a 9.

…Lake County Major Crimes Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli said Crimo went to the Madison area intending to commit another mass shooting.

He intended to use a second rifle he had with him, after dropping the one he had fired at the parade as he fled, Covelli said. But Crimo turned back, dumped his cellphone in Middleton, Wis. and was arrested after being spotted by a North Chicago police officer in the evening, Covelli said...

It is a four gun conclusion that "our" media is incompetent and lies.

The most important thing to remember with one of these is to unfold it before you shoot.
