Disney is one of just three Dow stocks that does not pay a dividend. But its plans suggest that the money is better spent reinvesting in the business.

Their stock is lower than it was five years ago.
Horse manure. Disney has gone full on “woke” and is turning out trash. Ruined pretty much every franchise they have...Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar. Cancelled my Disney+ membership, and ain’t about to invest any money in the parent company.
Puffy softball article. Disney hasn’t paid a dividend since the 2020 pandemic decimated the theme park and movie business. Now the stock price is down 37% in 2022, down 44% in 1 year. Disney can’t afford to pay a dividend. No need to sugar coat the facts, Motley Fools.

Not sure how Motley fool has stayed in business as long as it has, but it seems like somewhere central to their idea of how stocks work is that losing money is good.
You invest in a company, presumably for a reason other than watching your money burn. You want a return on that investment. Maybe not immediately, but eventually, you want that $1 you put into the company to come back as more than $1. Dividends get you that return by scraping off some of the value of the company and giving it to the shareholders. Maybe it’s better to reinvest the money in the company so the company is worth more later. That would be reflected in an increased stock price that shareholders could realize by selling or borrowing against.
Disney has none of these things, and the embrace of controversial strategies like supporting slavery and communism in China and inserting trendy sexuality themes where sexuality themes don’t belong is hurting their image among a large portion of their market.
Disney’s biggest asset is it’s intellectual property, which itself relies heavily on manipulating the US government into favorable protection of trademarks and copyrights, many of which should be in public domain by now. At the same time they’re cozy with China, well known for open disregard to intellectual property. It’s not a good look.
The Distards running the place went full pedo long ago, and can no longer contain their demons. Run, don’t walk away from these foul, fecal beasts.
