HENDERSONVILLE — The executive director of the North Carolina Apple Festival resigned June 23 over comments he made on social media about Juneteenth, according to the festival Facebook page.
The post on the festival’s Facebook page said David Nicholson, the executive director of the festival, confirmed the resignation of David Nicholson, the event’s long-time.

Juneteenth is a celebration of inequality

Agree. People are so accustomed to 'life as it is', and they don't realize that without defending it soon it will become 'life as it was'.
We already have too many race based or sex based “holidays”. It has become divisive and another reason to debate vs celebrate. Most retail stores and restaurants have not yet figured out how to bring it up in their ads.
The progressive elites have decreed Juneteenth a national holiday of major importance. While you are not yet required to celebrate it, you must not speak disparagingly of it.
The director evidently forgot the two rules when it comes to humor these days:
Rule #1. Politically correct jokes are fine, even if they are vulgar and actually not even funny.
Rule #2. Politically incorrect jokes of any type are hate speech. The teller of such a joke must be cancelled immediately.
It’s kinda like living in Brezhnev’s USSR. Straying from the party line won’t get you shot. But you will be punished in other ways.
The N.C. Apple Festival couldn’t happen without the dedication of the board members who serve and volunteers throughout the year as well as the apple growers, vendors, entertainers and downtown merchants that participate during the festival weekend.

Juneteenth should be marked as the day Republican troops under the command of a Republican president freed the last of the slaves held captive by Democrats.
Our idiotic Republican leaders should be emphasizing the political nature of that event. But I guess they’re too busy sipping martinis at their country clubs.
