Who cares about Khashoggi? No one knows who he was and no one cares.
Oh, you are one of those “Some People Did Something” people, who is #TeamSaudi.
But in reality he was an Iranian spy and his writing was propaganda for that regime. The Iranians plan to take over the nearby Muslim countries and already have their proxies in Syria and Lebanon..And the Iranians have been using their puppets in Yemen to bomb Saudi sites for years.

Right! And these foreigners who obtain US citizenship as did Khashoggi, only do so because the American passports is accepted in most nations without question. Of all nations, it is the most desired passport. I suspect most of these people have no allegiance to the US. It is merely a tool.

He was a JOURNALIST! All journalists lives matter much more than our trivial lives! They are Supreme Beings whose kingdom will never end!
This weekend in Chicago there will be 20-30 homicides and no one will ever know their names. Video shows Khashoggi entered a restaurant and never left. The presumption is he was cut up and removed in trash bags? That's all I know, and I'm pretty well informed, but hell, the media is making it an international, fist bumping incident.
In addition to working for the WaPost (who somehow are supposed to be immune), his death was a handy cause celeb to claim Trump and his admin did not care about Journalist’s rights.
There is only one reason their is so much western phony angst over the death of Jamal Khashoggi, and so much hypocrisy as well.
The first bit of fakery comes from the mantle of “journalist” Khashoggi took. It was a giant half truth in all of the last years of his life. What he was really doing, in his pretense of “writing reports as a ‘journalist’ “ was operating as a mouthpiece of the Muslim Brotherhood and making Muslim Brotherhood inspired attacks on the rulers of Saudi Arabia.
The west continually places, on their own say so, “white hats” on various Middle East personalities, if that person just attacks some other Middle East personality the western press does not like. Ninety nine percent of the time neither party deserves a “white hat” and in terms of western values neither party is “like us”.
To the Saudis, the Muslim Brotherhood is not just a competing Islamic fundamentalist voice, it is an existential threat to the Saudis and their brand of Islam. To them, they knew the purpose of Khashoggi’s journalism was its Muslim Brotherhood attacks on them, which made Khashoggi part of the exsistential threat to the Saudis.
So, unlike the western media, I knew what Khashoggi was really doing, and I understood why the Saudis saw him as a threat, and that it was not because he was a “journalist”.
So, to the western media western officials were not supposed to demonstrate friendly greetings and meetings with the Saudi rulers, yet for years before Putin’s war on Ukraine how many opponents did Putin knock off or try to knock off, all the while western leaders were meeting with him all the time. Much of the western media angst about Khashoggi is rank ignorance and rank hypocrisy.
It beats covering the news.
