Yellen says U.S. aims to move ahead with global minimum corporate tax despite setback

NUSA DUA, Indonesia (Reuters) -The United States will look for every opportunity to move ahead and enact a global minimum corporate tax agreement despite the opposition of a key Democratic senator, Joe Manchin, to raising corporate taxes, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said.

Yellen told reporters on Saturday that finance officials from the Group of 20 major economies reached strong consensus about many issues, including the need to address a worsening food security crisis, despite differences over Russia's war in Ukraine that prevented the leaders from issuing a joint statement.

Manchin, who holds the pivotal vote in the evenly divided Senate, this week said he would not support a Democratic proposal for new climate change spending and higher taxes for corporations and wealthier Americans.

โ€œWe are very committed to moving ahead with this. This is a truly important global initiative," she said on the second day of a two-day G20 meeting in Bali. "I can tell you that we will continue to look for every possible opportunity that we have to move this forward."

She said the United States had a strong incentive to move forward because as other countries enacted the tax agreement, they would be taxing the foreign profits of U.S. companies, while the United States would be leaving "that tax revenue on the table rather than capturing it ourselves."

Corporations donโ€™t pay taxes. They collect taxes.

Well Yellen, you DON'T have a vote in the US Senate. Manchin and Sinema do. Tough luck!

Another redistribution of wealth. The poorer countries that are signing on will received more than they contribute. It will take more money out of the USA and send it to poorer nations.

More globalist redistribution BS.

Why is this so important to the global aholes?

1. Right now, corporations can change jurisdictions for more favorable taxation - or can save taxes by positioning key parts of their businesses in differing jurisdictions. All legal. Smart.

2. If every country has the same taxation, corporations are stuck.

3. Once stuck, they can be plucked mercilessly.

4. Since they will pass this on to consumers/end users, the government can raise taxes without provoking citizens.

If corporations are stuck, they can be manipulated with social credit scores (ESG).

None of the revenues raised would be used for domestic budgetary purposes. It would in fact be a down-payment to establish the NWO, with the remainder of the funds used to line of the pockets of oligarchs.

If it is global, nobody has the advantage and we are trapped planet earth so you can’t escape from it and they can hack up the taxes to as high as they want.
We know that it won’t be honoured.

Moving towards the One World Government in which all earnings by productive people such as Americans will be snatched by the One World Government and given to non-productive people, thus ushering in an era of global famine, poverty and misery.

She should show us a balance sheet that shows how much US corporations will be paying and how much other nations will be paying.

All this is is a redistribution of wealth. 140 nations participating. It will be a net loss for US taxpayers and for some of the nations that hate us it will be a gain. We’ll be paying taxes to support welfare around the globe.

They will control everyone with our money. This would be a huge win for the NEW WORLD ORDER crowd.

This is very good news ... for China and India. Western nations will hamstring their companies with even more taxes and regulations. Meanwhile, China and India will just pretend to do so.

This scheme will make Western companies even less competitive than before.

An excellent analysis.

It is another way of tyrannical, global control of everyone by a tiny, connected oligopoly.

Indicating she is completely in the dark about basic economics (or rather she is just a partisan hack). They would be moving their assets here and we would collect those taxes if our rates are better...that's why they weren't hear to begin with and started moving back here after the tax reform was passed.

Why is this so important to the global aholes?>>> Keeps counties from developing themselves into tax havens. If the corporate taxes and regulations are the same in each country then GE won’t get up and move to Ireland to get a tax advantage. It is absolute control and it ends up being a head tax on the entire population. And once enacted it can be raised and raised easily with excuses to fix the global food shortage, fix the global inequity, fix the global warming/cooling/changing weather, etc. Nameless, faceless commies collecting money.

Yep, they need that money to set up the digital ID, digital money and global tracking system with QR codes for all.
