GREENWOOD, Ind. (AP) — Three people were fatally shot and two were injured Sunday evening at an Indiana mall after a man with a rifle opened fire in a food court and an armed civilian shot and killed him, police said.

Mall food courts have become bad news. Lots of criminal looking youths, looking for trouble and settling scores.

Greenwood is a south suburb of Indianapolis with a population of about 60,000. Mayor Mark Myers asked for “prayers to the victims and our first responders.”

If Greenwood has its own mayor and police chief it is not a suburb of Indianapolis. It is a separate city. It’s like calling Ft. Worth a suburb of Dallas or St. Paul a suburb of Minneapolis.

The problem with doing that is the cops often shoot the sheepdog citizen, mistaking them for another wolf. Cops have immunity if they make mistakes. We don’t.

Greenwood PD Chief: “Real hero of the day is the citizen…who was able to shot this shooter.”

Police say the man with a gun who took down shooter was 22-year-old from Bartholomew County.
