If Ron DeSantis can get past Donald Trump in 2024, he will prove something important about himself. | By @baseballcrank https://t.co/Eop0AFX23G— National Review (@NRO) July 18, 2022

It’s impossible to care what National Review has to say on the matter.

I don’t know why anyone is pushing DeSantis or talking about this.

If DeSantis runs against Trump he’s lost my support.

Any candidate for any office has to say that the election was stolen and support Trump.

Otherwise it’s a non-starter.

They are “assuming” he wants to run; based on no evidence other than media trying to stir the pot. DeSantis has done nothing to show he is going to or is interested in running in ‘24.

National Review was “Against Trump” in 2016.

They are still “Against Trump”.

DeSantis will only be 50 yrs old for the 2028 Presidential run.

He should either:

1. Complete his term as FL governor and then run for Pres. in 2028 as a successful sitting governor...or

2. Run as Trump’s VP in 2024 and then run for Pres in 2028.

I like Ron but please don’t tell me he’s a neocon . I think he’d make a good president (after Trump) but if he’s a NeoCon I won’t vote for him. All the praise he’s getting recently is making me think there might be something wrong with him.

It’s for our PDJT The Goat, if he wants it.
In an effin landslide.

If Our Guy does not choose to run, then and only then, we go DeSantis, IF he has somebody ready to take over in Florida.

Our Team has to do better at building a Farm Team.
Not just Drivers, and Aides, and Assistants to current office holeders, like Paul Ryan et al . . .

Saw a piece that noted 62% of current Corrupt Dem Administration folks have almost NO PRIVATE Business Experience.

Compare that to Our Guy and his crew.

More grist for the ludicrous "Trump vs. DeSantis" trope that is keeping so many commentators busy these days.

DeSantis is quiet on the fight in Arizona, quiet on the fight in Wisconsin. Didn’t pick a side in Georgia. Quiet on the fight in PA. Easy to have none of Trump’s “negatives” when you never join the battle. I would love to see him throw his weight behind Kari Lake in AZ but at some point he will disappoint the never Trumpers (who are probably never going to support him in the General anyways) or Trump’s base.

DeSantis must be surprised to learn that he is planning to run for President in 2024. The whole thing is made up by pubbie scribblers and internet clickbait vendors.

The media is running Ron DeSantis for president. Ron DeSantis has never said he is running but that’s beside the point it’s what they decide.

Let us assume -- as is widely assumed, but as yet unannounced -- that DeSantis would like to run for president in 2024.

Desantis is not running in '24. Get over it.

DAN MCLAUGHLIN supported Rubio in 2016.

“When this process started, my first choice was Bobby Jindal, my second was undecided between Rubio and Scott Walker.”
from: https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3385424/posts

I commented yesterday that half of these people pushing Desantis 2024 are not really for Desantis but are former Jeb and Rubio fans still mad that the Repubic weak losers aren’t still running the party.

If Trump runs DeSantis can wait 4 years and be the heir to the throne...or if he’s vp maybe sooner considering Trump’s age.

National Review has become the voice of the Bush Wing of the party. That wing that talks a good game to its own supporters, apologizes profusely to the “moderates” for being Republican, and kowtows to the media accepting every premise that they advance.

They don’t get it and never will. It isn’t Trump the man that has given rise to a new and better coalition of voters. This isn’t a cult. It is the AGENDA that has given rise to this coalition. If tomorrow Trump were to declare for open borders, offshoring our businesses and neocon war, he would be dumped in a heart beat.

So long as the NR and everyone else in the “elite” conflate the man and the agenda, and continue to do so purposefully, they will be left behind, way behind. DeSantis is popular with many voters because of his AGENDA, not because he is loyal to a single person.

DeSantis, like Trump, promised he would deliver on enacting an agenda. Despite attempts by the left and the media to label him racist and the rest of the usual attacks, he hasn’t backed down, he has doubled down.

The NR? They would apologize and declare how horrid it is that anyone would not be more compassionate to the leftist agenda. The NR and the rest of the GOPe is the battered spouse of American politics. I find that as loathsome as the radical dems.

As one Freeper so eloquently put it, Trump is building a new GOP coalition of working class and minorities while the elites tusk tusk from the golf course.
