The only reason there's even a mumbling of this now is the Dems are looking ahead thinking that it's likely they'll have to toss Biden in 2024. They're setting the stage in case this happens.

In the U.S. today nothing has deemed to have happened until the media deems it to have happened. If CNN and MSNBC ignore it then it didn't happen, even if you saw it with your own eyes. If The Powers That Be determine that Biden needs to go then suddenly CNN/MSNBC will discover the SHOCKING revelations that Hunter and Joe were crooks all along and something has to be done. Once it's been acknowledged by the media then we will be allowed to say it happened and democratic pundits across the nation will put on their shocked expressions as they crow in unison that Biden has to be replaced and Gavin Newsom is now our savior.

Until the time the decision is made that Biden has to go and the media is told to release the breaking headlines, Joe and Hunter are saints in the final stages of canonization. There won't be any doubt when that decision has been made. Until then Hunter won't be touched.
