AP) — A Russian operative under the supervision of one of the Kremlin’s main intelligence services has been charged with recruiting political groups in the United States to advance pro-Russia propaganda, including during the invasion of Ukraine, the Justice Department said Friday.
The indictment of Aleksandr Viktorovich Ionov reflects what U.S. officials say are ongoing Russian government efforts to meddle in the American political process, to shape public opinion and to sow discord and dissent on hot-button social issues.
In this case, the authorities say, Ionov from 2014 through last March recruited political groups in Florida, Georgia and California and directed them to spread pro-Russia talking points

I’m not surprised that Russia was backing separatist movements in the US. Especially the way they have used separatist movements as an excuse for invading other countries.
And I’m not surprised they were backing racial identity groups. We’ve got enough people doing that in the Democratic party.
The FBI and CIA don’t like Russians interfering with American elections - interfering with American elections is the primary job of the FBI and CIA.
It’s a free country (sorta). If someone wants to spread Russian propaganda they are just as free as those that want to spread Ukraine propaganda or any country really.
And, which Democrat Party operatives are going to be charged with subverting the US government?

The U.S. is highly Hypocritical to Criticize Russian Propaganda Meddling....our country has for years illegitimately intervene in numerous foreignaffairs trying to tilt outcomes....propaganda and otherwise.
Its well known when Russian Boris Yeltsin faced reelection in 1996, the Clinton administration mobilized economic relief to Yeltsin, to try to help him election. And that’s just one instance.
