KYIV, Ukraine — A small explosive device carried by a makeshift drone blew up Sunday at the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet on the Crimean Peninsula, wounding six people and prompting the cancellation of ceremonies there honoring Russia’s navy, authorities said.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the drone explosion in a courtyard at the naval headquarters in the city of Sevastopol. But the seemingly improvised, small-scale nature of the attack raised the possibility that it was the work of Ukrainian insurgents trying to drive out Russian forces.
A Russian lawmaker from Crimea, Olga Kovitidi, told Russian state news agency RIA-Novosti that the drone was launched from Sevastopol itself. She said the incident was being treated as a terrorist act, the news agency said.
Crimean authorities raised the terrorism threat level for the region to “yellow,” the second-highest tier.

RE: Apparently homemade drone strikes Russia’s Black Sea Fleet headquarters
Home made? As in Ukraine’s own drone?
So, they can make them. They don’t need NATO or our help any longer?
It’s a bit of a stretch to call an enemy attack on a military installation during war a “terrorist attack.”
Intel Slava Z
🇷🇺🇺🇦 Putin was officially informed about what happened in Sevastopol.
The attack was carried out by a low-yield explosive device dropped from a makeshift drone. The total number of injured is 6 people, 2 of them are in a state of moderate severity, the buildings were slightly damaged.
In fact, it’s a terrorist attack. Prefabricated quadcopter with a reset device and explosives (grenade or IED). The perpetrators are agents of the Ukrainian special services in the Crimea.
The attack shows initiative. It is reminiscent of the best work of the French Underground against the Nazis. Glory to Ukraine! Death to the invaders! Death to the Russian Navy !!!
You know, everybody mocks Rodney King in that clip. But he was basically telling the rioters to please stop. That’s a far cry from what we see today. Today they egg the riots on and fan the flames.
Slobber Ukraini!
On my favorite Ukrainian site (they have a contact inside the Office of the President) they are always complaining about the equipment they get from NATO (old, breaks down immediately, etc.)
Today this article was published in Bulgaria Military.com.
Norway-delivered Gepard SPAAG 35mm shells are useless in Ukraine
By Boyko Nikolov On Jul 31, 2022
BERLIN ($1=0.98 Euros) — Another problem is pursuing the Ukrainian armed forces with some of the military equipment supplied to them. Yesterday we reported an error message in the German PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers due to overloading. Yesterday we also made an announcement that another German vehicle – the Gepard anti-aircraft tank – also has a problem.

German PzH 2000s in Ukraine wear out: error message after heavy fire
Ukraine received Norwegian-made ammunition some time ago to be used by the German-made Gepard SPAAG, also delivered in Ukraine. The reason: Germany did not have 35mm ammunition available for its Gepard SPAAGs and was forced to look abroad. Berlin even held talks with countries that have purchased this air defense system, such as Qatar and Brazil. Norway responded by saying it could produce them.
Now it turns out that the Norwegian ammunition already delivered to Ukraine is not recognized by the weapon system and it cannot fire them. Sources claim that joint tests of Gepard SPAAG ammunition and anti-aircraft self-propelled guns took place in Germany. According to them, new tests will be conducted in August after the ammunition is upgraded.
However, this could prove to be a very serious problem for the defense capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces. They cannot currently use Norwegian ammunition. If the new munitions configuration proves successful in August, Ukraine will have to return the munitions already delivered to them back to Germany for modification. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the General Staff of the Armed Forces have not yet commented on the information.
The systems removed from the Bundeswehr inventory in 2010 are now in KMW’s warehouses. It is assumed that Gepards, which will be delivered to Ukraine, will be sent from the warehouses of KMW. KMW had previously offered to send its Gepards to Ukraine, but this offer was rejected by the German government.
Russia can’t conquer a tiny country and everyone is afraid of them. Their status as a military superpower goes down the drain each passing day
True
Where do you get that Russia was trying to conquer Ukraine?
Add to that: A crapload of Javelins sent by/from the US arrived with dead batteries. The missiles that came with the HIMARs the US sent were low yield, not sufficient enough to take out a bridge or associated bridge pylons with multiple missiles fired.
So many equipment issues, all caused by modern tech. Didn’t the Japanese cleverly design their rifles to be able to chamber their ammo AND ours, which were slightly different sizes?
Peskov, spokesperson of the President of Russia, came out today with a ridiculous statement saying so.

He basically named all the major cities in Ukraine.
“attack on a military installation during war a “terrorist attack.”
I totally agree. Ukraine has every right to repel this Russian invasion.
“Home made? As in Ukraine’s own drone?”
Don’t know answer to that exactly.
Wouldn’t surprise me though! I do understand young teenagers everywhere are learning how to make & use drones.
“The attack shows initiative. It is reminiscent of the best work of the French Underground against the Nazis. Glory to Ukraine! Death to the invaders! Death to the Russian Navy !!!”
Amen.
