A Lake in the Hills bakery that was targeted earlier this month in a hate crime after planning a family-friendly drag show was ordered to stop hosting public events because it isn’t zoned for entertainment — a move the store’s owner called a “conspiracy.”
Corrina Sac, of UpRising Bakery and Cafe, said in a Facebook video posted Saturday that village officials sent a letter a day earlier threatening large fines and the revocation of its business and liquor licenses if any more events are organized.
The ACLU of Illinois vowed to defend Sac and warned the village’s actions “create a victory for hateful, anti-LGBTQ+ voices who attacked the owner and bakery after coverage of the drag brunch.”
Sac said the letter came after a “very threatening meeting” on Thursday, when she claimed she was first informed of the zoning issue and concerns over the public resources being used to protect her business. She insisted the bakery has been holding events since opening last November and nowrelies on them to meet its financial obligations.
“I feel like this is discrimination and a conspiracy to interfere with my business,” she said. “Unfortunately, when the attention waned from all the hate this week, they shifted gears and started victim blaming me after we were attacked by a known domestic terrorist who committed hate crimes against us just one week ago.”

I gotta wonder about those hate crimes. Were the perpetrators ever caught?
There is no such thing as a “family-friendly drag show.”
“family-friendly drag show” is an oxy moron. It is NOT possible to hold a family friendly drag show!!!
Plus the anti-American ACLU is defending the bakery despite the fact they they do-id NOT have permission to hold events of ANY kind. Time to defund the ACLU and replace it with an organization that actually defends civil liberties and not 99% defending liberal bs.
I am delighted the left is making ‘family friendly drag shows’ their hill to die on.
This.
> There is no such thing as a “family-friendly drag show.” <
Right. It’s a contradiction in terms. Sort of like saying a “family-friendly marijuana smoke-in.”
Corrina Sac, of UpRising Bakery, sometimes comedy writes itself
“Unfortunately, when the attention waned from all the hate this week, they shifted gears and started victim blaming me...
Ok, that’s a new one for me...victim blaming ???
“Corrina Sac”
Sounds like Corrina is a real sack of Schiff.
>>I gotta wonder about those hate crimes. Were the perpetrators ever caught?
I doubt using the correct pronouns is an actual felony, yet.
God bless these people for having the guts to shut them down.
Without the previous hate crime publicity, no one would have heard of them or their zoning dispute.
Bingo.
And, go under yah pack of victim recruiters. I guarantee that in the audience with a camera was at least one pedo. He’ll review piccies afterwards for the kids he wants to approach. He will succeed.
Wow, she used almost every pejorative in the liberal lexicon...
* Hate crimes
* Discrimination
* Conspiracy
* Domestic terrorist
She failed to get any “isms” in the charges.
She says she “now relies on [events] to meet [my business] financial obligations.” It sounds to me that she is running an event center that happens to sell baked goods, not a bakery hosting occasional events. I’m sure she isn’t zoned to run an event center.
I agree. It puzzles me, even as I can easily recognize their ideology and unquenchable quest to control others has no limit, even to encouraging pedophilia.
It puzzles me, because one would expect a tidal wave of outcry, but...there isn’t.
Sure, there are people on our side of the spectrum, but there are many who on both our side and on theirs who are silent, which the Left gets to embrace in the public sphere as acquiescence/approval.
They have managed to make it a “hate crime” to object to this, and thus, cowed many people, even on the Left, who would have a major issue with a 25 year old man somehow being mixed in with their daughters in a “cheer event” or a “drag show”.
There was once a time when someone doing something like this drag show as part of their “business” would have to worry about the well being of their company. No more, it seems. Now it is just complaining about being prosecuted by a bureaucratic technicality, not any personal concern about the physical safety of themselves or their own perverted business.
I don’t know what to make of this, other than people have been so cowed that they will not object to nearly anything, and our country has been turned into a nation of cowards.
There is no such thing as a “family-friendly drag show.”
= = =
Sit the family down in the audience.
Tie a rope on a cross dressing tranny, maybe by the neck.
Drag them across the stage back and forth as needed.
Right. I get the impression that naming of the company is no accident.
And that likely ain’t no woman, though the media won’t give any help there.
GROOMING bakers. Whodda thunk it?
Well a third of the country is in the bag for the left, and will swallow anything they dole out, no matter how ridiculous.
But I wonder, what would an outcry among the rest of us, who essentially have no voice, look & sound like? Plus I cannot imagine this trans crap is going over well among our newest arrivals from the third world.
