Kansas voted for Obama twice and Biden in 2020.

My understanding is that it was confusing language and the pro-life side didn’t realize it.

It can always be voted on again. We have learned that over the years.

I would guarantee you these same people would be screaming at the top of their lungs if say, puppies were being aborted.

They have no regard for human life.

Ain’t one of those ever to be in need of an abortion.

If anything, the argue for pro-abortion simply by their existence…

Here's what Kansas voters had to read and decipher before voting:

Explanatory statement.

The Value Them Both Amendment would affirm there is no Kansas constitutional right to abortion or to require the government funding of abortion, and would reserve to the people of Kansas, through their elected state legislators, the right to pass laws to regulate abortion, including, but not limited to, in circumstances of pregnancy resulting from rape or incest, or when necessary to save the life of the mother.

A vote for the Value Them Both Amendment would affirm there is no Kansas constitutional right to abortion or to require the government funding of abortion, and would reserve to the people of Kansas, through their elected state legislators, the right to pass laws to regulate abortion.

A vote against the Value Them Both Amendment would make no changes to the constitution of the state of Kansas, and could restrict the people, through their elected state legislators, from regulating abortion by leaving in place the recently recognized right to abortion.”

Shall the following be adopted?

§ 22. Regulation of abortion.

Because Kansans value both women and children, the constitution of the state of Kansas does not require government funding of abortion and does not create or secure a right to abortion. To the extent permitted by the constitution of the United States, the people, through their elected state representatives and state senators, may pass laws regarding abortion, including, but not limited to, laws that account for circumstances of pregnancy resulting from rape or incest, or circumstances of necessity to save the life of the mother.

Yes / No

“They choose death”

I’ll bet that half of those voters thought they were voting for the exact opposite.

The ballot verbiage on that race was (purposely) bafflegab. FReeper LS said he has a PhD and it confused him. Dr. Gina Loudon said she didn’t understand it. Hubby is PhD and I asked him if he understood what it meant; he didn’t.

The issue needs a do-over.

Realistically, Kansas abortion law is fairly restrictive right now, allowing unrestricted abortion only up to 20 weeks.

We’ve gotten Roe overturned, bringing the matter to individual states and their voters, and now we are finding out what level of popular support exists for further restricting abortion.

I think it will be a hard slog to get things down lower than 20 weeks.

The fact that Roe existed change(d) the moral fabric of America."

That's exactly correct. Abortion is a multi-generational sin that has numbed the conscious of a majority of Americans. In so many ways, what was once thought abhorrent is now passionately (and often violently) defended as an entitlement.

Don’t confuse law and morality.

Not all bad things are illegal. Not all legal things are good.

Law applies to everyone within a specific jurisdiction.

Morality applies to intersecting belief communities with differing morals.

Absolutely terrible wording, but how prepared was Kansas to get the base up to speed on the amendment issue?

Well, Kansas finally has something that will attract tourism. Abortion clinics will pop up everywhere.
