Be very, very careful what you wish for.
An Article 5 Constitutional Convention can easily be hijacked by the Red states and used to repeal the Second Amendment, put in an amendment codifying abortion, and give the federal government enumerated constitutional powers that they currently do not have.
A Constitutional Convention is playing with fire.
Article V says that “on the Application of two thirds of the Legislatures of the several States, [Congress] shall call a Convention for proposing amendments.”
The amendments still have to be ratified in the normal course. This would not be the same as rewriting the Constitution from scratch.
Wrong!
Article V allows the people to introduce Amendments to the Constitution, not to “rewrite” anything.
Those Amendments voted on an approved by the Article V Convention would then have to be approved by 38 of the 50 states, just like every other amendment.
You fail to see that we have been witnessing a re-write of the Constitution ever since Woodrow Wilson used his “living Constitution” argument to allow Federal judges to redefine the Constitution.
What you fear is already here. The Left has gotten you to fear the cure, which was written into the Constitution by the Founders.
Not true at all. Please listen to Farris. Then get back to me. A constitutional convention (article V) is NOT the “blank slate” you imagine it to be. It is for specifically enumerated, concretely designated AMENDMENTS to the consittution, nothing else.
WRONG
You mean by the bleu states, right?
There is a big difference between a ‘Constitutional Convention’ (Federal controlled) and a ‘Convention of States’ (State controlled)
There are far more GOP states.
A ‘constitutional convention’ is the one Rush always warned about. I wish he had pointed out the difference between that and an article 5 convention of states.
This crap article is projection, pure and simple.
Conservatives only want EVERYONE to adhere to the Constitution.
Leftists view the Constitution as an obstacle that must be worked around, subverted, circumvented, ignored, and avoided.
Hell, if we had our way, we would have a convention to insert new amendments stipulating concrete penalties for deliberate sabotage, but...as always, WE would never enforce it even when it was 100% needed and warranted, and THEY would militarize it against their political opponents.
So, the answer would be no, I guess.
Nonsensical bullshit.
I think you meant blue state, where the reds are.
I agree with you. I’ve been trying to warn folks also.
In theory that is supposed not to be possible, but haven’t people
noticed by now the Communists do not adhere to the constitution?
What part of this have our people missed in recent years.
Subversion is the only constant now.
I assume you meant hijacked by the blue states.
Not really, the agenda has to be approved in each State House, if enough agree, then the convention is convened, the vote is taken, the matters pass or fail. End of story.
Time to repeal the 17th Amendment and eliminate the Senior Executive Service.
Two Amendments, if passed will restore the US to a Republic it once was.
>>A Constitutional Convention is playing with fire.<<
My understanding is a convention would be called to address a particular issue(s), not a open free for all.
Example: A convention agenda such as Balanced budget amendment and or abolition of the 14th amendment.
It would not be an open agenda. Anyone else have this understanding or am I in error.
