If you have a efficient furnace it will burn natural gas and produce CO2 and water vapor as a waste product. What they want is for the power plant to burn natural gas, turn that gas into electricity, use that electricity to generate heat. For anyone who has ran a space heater you know that producing heat from electricity is very costly and wasteful.

Not to mention that heat pumps heat with warm not hot air.
So you need to move a LOT of air.
