Latvia and Estonia have withdrawn from a cooperation framework between China and over a dozen Central and Eastern European countries on Thursday, following in the footsteps of Lithuania which withdrew last May.
The move comes during Western criticism towards China for escalating military pressure on Taiwan, a democratically-ruled island that China claims as its own territory.
“Past participation in the 16+1 format has not yielded the desired economic results,” Latvia’s Foreign Ministry told Reuters.
Relations between Lithuania and China worsened after the Baltic nation allowed Taiwan to open a de facto embassy late last year.
“Latvia’s continued participation in the China-led Cooperation framework with Central and Eastern European countries is no longer in line with our strategic objectives in the current international environment,” it added.

They should all withdraw as well just based on China’s mutual friendship/partnership with Russia and that the Ukraine is literally on their doorstep.
If they decide to default on the China loans and simply call the cancellation partial payment for damages for the Wuhan virus, there isn’t really much China can do.
If the US tells China the US will default on all the US bonds that China has if China invades Taiwan, that would surely pressure them to not invade Taiwan. Need to move all the Pharma, and other companies back to the U.S. to really make it effective.
Interesting to see some of EU’s strongest supporters Ukraine in its battle against Russian invasion are also taking a firm stand on the CCP. Seems there is a multi tasking lesson or two here for the one track Putinas.

These “little” eastern European countries have far more backbone than America or any western European country. Thank you, Latvia and Estonia, for setting an example.
