An FBI forensic report confirms the gun used in the fatal "Rust" shooting could not have been fired without someone pulling the trigger, court documents revealed on Friday.
Actor and producer Alec Baldwin admitted to brandishing the gun when 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot on the movie's set last October.
However, during an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos in December, the actor assuredly claimed he "didn't pull the trigger."
"The trigger wasn't pulled," Baldwin said, arguing that he only pulled back the hammer. "I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger at them, never."

Wow, lying to the fbi is a crime.
In fairness, a *broken* single-action revolver can fire without the trigger being pulled - if, for example, the half-cock notch or the sear are damaged, simply releasing the hammer will allow it to drop. Depending on the exact model of single-action revolver, other safeties (like transfer bars) may or may not be present.
This was unlikely but not impossible, and now we know it was not the case at all.

Alec knows squat about guns, or is doing the best acting job of his life, to appear to know squat about guns.
And all this time I thought it was one of those guns that roamed around on its own, shooting people at random.
This is the fault of gun manufacturers.
They put artificial intelligence in their guns which then started hunting down humans!
He slip fired it. Had the trigger back (out of ignorance) pulled back the hammer and released it not realizing it would fire.

Notice how long he was given the benefit of the doubt? Those that say there are not two standards of justice are foolish and naive. Anyone that said that he HAD to have pulled the trigger were vilified and told that this type of pistol could just go rogue at anytime. Does anyone believe Alex Baldwin will do jail time?
