Many in the Republican conservative base have good reasons for disliking Senator McConnell. However, he is the leader of the Senate Republicans, making him the highest-ranking Republican in office. Republicans with more political power and a larger base are currently on the outside looking in. That can change. I would never pretend to know what is going on in my senior senator’s head, but I have observed him since the Reagan administration, so I know how he operates.

Kentucky does not elect him as the Republican leader of the Senate. That is on the senators who vote for him as leader, many of whom are your senators. That is where Mitch McConnell’s Senate math becomes important. There are three specific aspects of this.
Both McConnell and Schumer have maximum political power when the balance of Senate power is very close. While the vestiges of the filibuster remain, this is where leadership can move or stop legislation. The reconciliation process can be used to move spending bills with simple majorities, but it is still a somewhat limited process. With a 50/50 Senate, all the power rests in the party leaders.
McConnell’s power lies with his ability to move the votes of squishy Republicans around to make deals. This is only possible when the Senate is very close or tied.

We can beat the McConnell math. We must send as many Republicans as possible to the Senate. There is a disturbing trend that I see in comments. Some conservatives say that, because all Republicans are bad, it’s a waste of time to vote, and that we might as well just stay home. Mitch McConnell wants exactly that. The way to take power from McConnell is to elect enough Republican senators so that McConnell cannot control the caucus. ….

I read this earlier today. Good article.
I’ve been voting for the lesser of two evils for decades.
I’m tired of voting for evil men, and I won’t do it anymore.
The party does not own me. They do not own my vote. They have to earn my vote. But they don’t even try. The GOP is too busy stabbing Trump in the back.
God willing I’ll live long enough to see that skunk and his Chinese minder out of power.
If you want changes in the GOP, force them to spend a lot of money defending their candidates.
Over time, we will win a race and have our candidate firmly in place and change the party one candidacy at a time.
You never know who is saying these things. Without doubt some of these negativists are Democrats and deep-state trolls pretending to be conservatives.
We will not get new leadership until we change the membership.
Re-electing Mitch’s bitches will ensure he remains leader.
All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.
That is a reason to support Oz, even though he may and is unpopular. We need republican majority so we can tinker within the party and get rid of traitors to this nation within our party. Trump has done more for the party than any of them have, as well as, the nation itself. McConnell has to go.
That would never happen, they are the Praetorian Guard for the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA).
They will never relinquish control until they have delivered that final amnesty.
The point of the article is that to get rid of McConnell as leader, Republicans need "Mitch’s bitches" plus. McConnell won't mind if some Republicans lose, so long as the partisan make-up of the Senate is close. If, however, there were 55 or 60 R's, then the leadership's wheeling and dealing power is greatly diminished.
So, if in the general election, the choice is between a RINO and a Democrat, voting RINO is the best choice. The time to get rid of RINO's is during primary season. We actually have done pretty well in this regard.
Across the 26 states that have held primaries so far, 132 incumbents—27 Democrats and 105 Republicans—have lost. This represents a 65% increase from 2020 among these states. This increase has been driven by Republican losses, which are up 98% from 53 in 2020. For Democrats, the number defeated this year remains the same. Ballotpedia
Not all Republicans are bad. It’s just that a great many of them are rawthah sh!tteh, especially on the federal level.
The way I read the argument of the article is that if more Republicans are elected to the Senate, then the power of the Senate leadership is greatly reduced. So you can get the effective result you are seeking if more R's are elected, even if the same old RINOs keep their seat-warming posts.
Yep. Then you have Linn Wood.
That’s why God created primaries.
Neither South Dakota or Florida could come up with anyone who sides with the citizens and the rule of law to challenge their Amnesty Senators.
It’s good that we picked off a few of the 145 in the House that voted for Liz Cheney, but at this rate I’ll be dead before MAGA wrests control of the GOP from the Bush League.
Completely disagree. The way to take power from Mitch is to take control of the RNC and all of the money that they throw to their friends campaigns. That is how Mitch influences new Senators, by controlling the funds going to their campaign.
A Maga RNC would make him retire
Agree...this staying home idea has got to stop!
