GOP Senate campaign group blasts 'false' New York Times report on ad spending
Fox News ^ | 8/16/2022 | Brandon Gillespie

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) blasted The New York Times Monday in response to an article reporting the group was slashing TV ad buys in three states with crucial Senate races due to possible "fund-raising trouble."

According to The Times' piece, the NRSC canceled roughly $10 million in ad buys across multiple media markets in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin due to "a likely sign of financial troubles" stemming from slowing online contributions.

"This is false, as I told Shane," NRSC communications director Chris Hartline tweeted, referencing the article's author, Shane Goldmacher.

"The NRSC is not cancelling spending. There is money being moved from the I.E. side back to the NRSC side of the wall," he added. "Nothing in this story is accurate. The NRSC has already spent $36 million on TV and has tens of millions more reserved."

Looks like you guys who raised the alarm bells about believing the New York Times may have been right. There are multiple funding accounts within organizations like this that get shifted.

But it had to the desired effect on dividing the party if the reactions to the thread were any indication...and shows how much effect the MSM can still have - even on those who are the least likely to trust them.

What happened to that $208 Million (+/-) that the RNC raised under the guise of “STOP THE STEAL” in late 2020 and early 2021?

Has there been any accounting for that money?

“The NRSC has already spent $36 million on TV and has tens of millions more reserved.””

____________

That’s quite the ambiguous statement, considering the accusations and they actually state nothing that shows the NYT was lying.

Can anyone tell me the RNC’s strategy for winning in November?

If you saw McConnell today you would have no idea other than he was babbling about Ukraine instead of the issues most Rs care about - illegal immigration, crime and inflation of which he spoke nary a word. Nothing about our senile “president”, zilch about disparate enforcement by the FBI and Justice. My view is that Trump and DeSantis have to jump in with both feet, push for donations from massive numbers of small givers and get moving. But I always go back to the Washington Post headlining the day after Reagan opened his campaign on Labor Day at the Statue of Liberty - “A Day of Bad Omens” - we know how that worked out after Reagan focused on issues people care about like crime, an open border and a senile “president”.

Yes. Should be doable with their text / e-mail lists. Just 10 bucks from 1 million people per candidate does it. Or $1 from 10 million people to each candidate. They have more supporters than this.

Otherwise, candidates are entirely dependent on the donor class and the elites.

Way to go, GOP.

Only took you 48 hours to shoot down a misleading and politically damaging news story!

Anyway, thank goodness you were able to solve the voter fraud issue 10 weeks before the most important mid-term election in my lifetime...

Oh, wait...!

They don’t have one & its starts with a POS named Mitch McConnell.

McTurtle is pathetic.

laconic lays it out pretty good in Post #5.

Don’t waste your money trying to convince them of anything

You cannot trust the NY Times. This is the same “newspaper” that employed a reporter named Walter Duranty who was nothing but a corrupt fiend. In the 1930s, the KGB plied Duranty, then the NYT’s Moscow correspondent, with alcohol and prostitutes. In return, Duranty wrote articles denying Stalin’s mass murders and the forced famine in the Ukraine which killed eight million people who were starved to death. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the NY Times has never given the greasy prize back or apologized for this scum’s work.

They responded to same day as the article was released, and apparently they told the Times' author this was not true when they called them for comment, but the Times went with the story anyway.

Figures the report was Fake News.

That said, it's better to make your donations directly to the campaigns instead of mild mannered Rick Scott's NRSC.

Why would anyone trust a word of what they read in the Times, and that includes the ands and the thes?

True.

The Times is also no doubt aware of the base’s distrust of establishment orgs and probably ran this story to cause a circular firing squad within the GOP during a crucial point of the midterms.

I saw an article about GOP TV-buy cuts on Monday - cannot recall what publication.

Tucker Carlson mentioned the funding cuts on Tuesday and again on Thursday.

I scan dozens of news headlines every day and never saw any GOP counter punch.

The Fox article you posted says the GOP refuted on Twitter.

Since Twitter is the official Club House for RINOs and the Political Left, I am thinking that very few Conservatives know about this.
