The presence of an Israeli visa “invalidates” a passport for some Arab countries so gotta have a “spare”. Also, if traveling to multiple countries and have to quickly get multiple visas from different Embassies, another reason for a spare.

I do too. It looks nothing like a passport. Richard Grennell (sp?) former ambassador to Germany, says that you need two passports if you’re doing Middle East diplomacy. Makes sense. But then the DOJ says that there were two expired passports and one active all of which have been returned.
