"Instead of one AR locked in a safe somewhere in the admin offices, a much better solution is to allow teachers, with training etc, to carry a concealed pistol, if they wish.

The school defense needs to begin in the hallways and school rooms, at the very moment the threat emerges."

Concur 100%, Matt. The response time to any attack needs to be measured in seconds, not minutes. Here's an idea -- do both.

Of course, in light of the fact that the vast majority of these crazies seem to have histories of telegraphing their intentions for weeks, sometimes months ahead of time, maybe putting them on a leash beforehand might be in order. A tough call, that one.

I believe Israel began to arm teachers and harden schools after the Ma’alot massacre in 1974.

And they want everyone else to feel their pain by by having everyone unarmed against future shooters.

He is an unfortunate victim ut how does that make him an expert on civil defense?

I worked over in Israel for about 4 weeks 20 years ago, we were in an office looking at some high-site survey material for upgrading antenna towers and it was around lunch.
I said, “I think I’ll go out for a bite.” and seven other people in that room raised their heads and said “no you cannot do that”, and then they explained about the targeting issue that was going on.

So they ordered in. I have never particularly fond of hummus...

I agree with the dumb father to the extent that a 12ga shotgun with a red dot sight would be better.

I'm biased to slugs for dual purpose locked door breaching - No hiding down the hallway waiting for a key. Wearing armor - No problem, very solid knock down.

My opinions..

“Why isn’t this man speaking out against the Democrats that stood by and allowed the shooting to take place?”

Because, in my view, he is a craven coward and not very bright. That is to say, the sort of person who thinks gun-free zones are a great idea. Besides if his kid died on the altar of idiocy, so does yours. YMMV

Yeah, because everyone knows a sign will stop mass shooters and drug addicts every time.

/s

Seriously; how stupid does someone have to be to understand it take equal or superior force to stop a bad guy with any gun. A plastic butter knife and sign will just get more people killed. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I’m not sure AR-15’s with .223/5.56 rounds would be all that appropriate for a school setting. Those rounds could penetrate internal walls.

Wouldn’t .40 SW handguns for multiple trained teachers be a better option? I dunno, just thinkin out loud.

Along that note. What about cops in schools, secured entry points where you enter an area to register your visit w/o being given access until cleared...then through a metal detector.

An alternative can be some form of 9mm carbine platform - a jurisdiction in Florida has already made that move -

"B&T USA announces the State of Florida’s Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has purchased B&T APC9 PRO platforms equipped with Glock lower receivers, folding stocks, Aimpoint Micro T1 sighting systems, 22mm B&T quick-detach mounts and Vertx Ready Pack 2.0 carriage systems. These compact packages are destined for use within the department’s School Resource Officer program, Detective Bureau, and other specialized units within the Sheriff’s Office."

Fred has become a professional victim.

He is all over tv here in SoFl promoting some gun grabbing rodent running for something.

I feel sorry for Fred and his family but letting more school children get murdered by a gunman that could have been killed by a good guy with a gun will not bring his daughter back.

I’m thinking that might be a better alternative to an AR-15 high velocity round. lol

"...the teachers should wear “Gun Free Zone” t-shirts.
And put similar stickers on their classroom doors..."

A pure GENIUS you are!

.

And let me ask you about something else since you're so smart -

There must be hundreds of thousands - if not millions of
"Deer Crossing" signs along the roads of America.

HOW do we get the deer to HEED those signs and only
cross at the designated crossings?
Instead they just cross the roads willy-nilly wherever they want
causing many, many traffic accidents, fatalities and injuries -
and untold property damage.

How can we effectively address the problem of all these lawless deer?
Fines won't work - because deer have no money to pay them.
Do you think a "Deer Literacy Initiative" might work?

.
