‘Abuse of Your Mayoral Authority’: Fetterman Allegedly Ordered Cop To Dig Up Dirt on Political Rival
Washington Free Beacon ^ | August 23, 2022 | Chuck Ross

Posted on 08/23/2022 9:45:01 AM PDT by T Ruth

As mayor of Braddock, Pa., Senate hopeful John Fetterman (D.) ordered a police officer to dig up dirt on one of his political rivals, according to a town solicitor whom Fetterman later fired.

In a heated 2009 mayoral campaign, Braddock solicitor Lawrence Shields accused Fetterman of "abuse of your mayoral authority" for ordering a Braddock cop to obtain a police report from a 2004 domestic incident involving Fetterman’s challenger, Jayme Cox. Braddock city council members called for Fetterman’s arrest for violating state laws regarding the handling of criminal information in cases where charges are dropped.

Three years later, Fetterman cast the tie-breaking vote—his only vote in 13 years as Braddock mayor—to fire Shields as solicitor, purportedly to save money in the borough’s budget. Fetterman said he was an "enthusiastic yes" in favor of ousting Shields. Shields and Fetterman’s campaign did not respond to requests for comment about whether the earlier criticism of Fetterman was a factor in Shields’s firing.

Fetterman admitted to asking a police officer for the report on Cox and discussing it with others. But he denied pressuring the officer to dig up the information and said it was necessary to inform voters about Cox, who had charges dropped after taking a domestic abuse class.

***

In one city council meeting Fetterman did attend, he "began discussing his political views" about Cox, according to meeting records obtained by the Free Beacon. Fetterman’s rant during the May 2009 meeting prompted Brown to ask Braddock’s police chief "to remove [Fetterman] from the meeting after he refused to end the discussion." Fetterman was allowed to stay in the meeting after calming down.

So fetterman is a democrat is what the article is saying. I think most people already knew that and assumed all the other points were happening just like they always do with dems.

Impeach him, like they impeached President Trump over a phone call to Ukraine which they alleged the same thing happened

It’s starting, and before Labor Day, Pennsylvania’s unofficial start of campaigning. This story is being added to the armed detainment of black man while jogging. I wonder what the October surprise will be. There’s tons of dirt on Fetterman, simply because Fetterman is a dirt ball.

Disclaimer: I am voting against Fetterman more than I am voting for Oz. I’m used to holding my nose when voting for Senators. I have a lifetime of experience doing that.

This is normal behavior for Democrats. Their voters seem to be ok with it, at least when the politician doing it is a Democrat.

Oh, I see. Just like you or I could drop in to any police station and ask them to put together a report on someone. Right. Happens all the time.

Ads against Fetterman are cranking now on my local classic rock station (WMGK Philly). Every 30 minutes or so, basically ponding on his statements about releasing criminals from jail, sanctuary city statements, etc. Hopefully this race will tighten up now that people are paying attention.

In a Pennsylvania Borough (like Braddock) the Mayor supervises the Police Department.

Of course. I don't think anybody is questioning that.

The question is, did he abuse that mayoral power to go after a political rival?

Have you heard Oz’s interview on Hannity?

He sounds like the real deal. Don’t make things worse for this election by helping the opponent- especially if you haven’t heard that.

Oz must be the worst candidate in the world to be losing to this idiot.

It's not the personal characteristics of the candidates that are driving this race. It's the question of whether the Senate will be controlled by Democrats or Republicans.

Democrats are awake to this and are determined to keep control. Republicans are not seeing the forest for the trees.

I don’t watch Hannity. He’s a monotone moron. With that said, I’m not making things worse for Oz. He will receive my vote. Fetterman will receive my regular abuse.

As Braddock mayor, did he preside from Mom’s basemen?

When Pennsylvanians find out who this guy is, they will dump him. This is a conservative, rational state. Kooks like him wear out their welcome pretty fast. He shouldn’t have any support in the eastern half of the state where most people live. They have no connection to him.

The Dims in Pittsburgh will back him just because he portrays himself as one of them. Plus, he was mayor of Braddock which is a broken-down former steel town near Pittsburgh.

Oh, yeah. It’s starting. And it has a looooong way to go.

Wait until they start pointing out the weird growth on his neck in addition to his other health problems. That’s why he always wears a hoodie.

Fetterman reminds me of the criminal politicians we already have to contend with. Not for a second is he interested in making life better for anyone other than himself.
