The Koch network and other Trump allies are quietly backing his biggest GOP critic: Rep. Liz Cheney
CNBC ^

...

Immediately after her loss, she launched a leadership political action committee titled The Great Task which will allow her to keep her political aspirations alive while taking on the former president. Trump, whose home and private club Mar-a-Lago in Florida was raided by the FBI just days before the primary, has not ruled out running for president again in two years.

Cheney is using some of Trump’s own consultants and allies, including those from the powerful Koch network, to try to keep the former president from winning a second term in the White House. Some of them appear to have used limited liability companies that shroud their identity from the public.

“These people are going to be persona non grata after the Cheney loss,” a senior GOP strategist close to Trump said when asked if the president and his associates will work with the former Cheney advisors again. Jeff Miller, a longtime lobbyist and ally of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., has told vendors not to work with Cheney’s team, according to The New York Times.

Miller and a spokesman for Trump did not return a request for comment. A spokesman for Cheney did not return a request for comment.

Billionaire and conservative political backer Charles Koch is helping Cheney through i360, a data and technology company owned by his conglomerate, Koch Industries, according to financial database PitchBook and Federal Election Commission filings.

The filing shows two PACs, Conservatives for a Strong America and Wyomingites Defending Freedom and Democracy, paid i360 to help deploy pro-Cheney ads through text messages. Axios reported that the leader of Wyomingites Defending Freedom and Democracy is former Trump White House aide Julia Griswold Dailer, who didn’t return a request for comment.

A nonprofit partially funded by Charles Koch, Americans for Prosperity, paid $11 million to i360 for data services, according to the nonprofit’s 2020 tax disclosure.

I though the Koch’s were never Trumpers? Anyways, CNBC/Comcrap is not a reliable source. Cheney doesn’t have any hope in getting Republican votes. Jesus could come down and declare Trump a tool of Satan and I wouldn’t vote for Cheney.

The Kochs have not changed their behavior in any way. They have never been Trump supporters and have always donated to the swamp creatures. I suspect they will redirect the parts they were spending on Liz Cheney to some other RINO.

While the Koch’s were not backing Trump in 2016, many of their political allies were. By 2018, many of them no longer supported Trump.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/dec/07/donald-trump-koch-brothers-cabinet-transition-power

...

Longtime ally Mike Pence is leading the transition team, and several veteran Koch network donors, operatives and political allies are poised to join the Trump administration when the new president takes office in January.

While Charles Koch and some network officials had tough words for Trump for some of his incendiary campaign rhetoric and positions this year, several mega-donors who back Koch-linked advocacy groups poured millions into Super Pacs and other fundraising efforts to boost Trump, and some of these donors have not been shy about flexing their muscles during the transition.

The Koch network, which says it spent about $250m this election cycle on politics and policy efforts, comprises several hundred donors who help underwrite numerous free-market, small-government advocacy groups. The network is spearheaded by Charles and David Koch, the libertarian-leaning brothers who control the $115bn-a-year energy and industrial behemoth Koch Industries.

Several Koch network donors who backed Trump, such as Robert Mercer, Joe Craft, Doug Deason, Harold Hamm, Diane Hendricks and Stan Hubbard, have reason to be pleased that his early cabinet picks align with their views on expanding fossil fuels, spurring charter schools, repealing and replacing Obamacare, and slashing government regulations and taxes.

One of Trump’s early cabinet selections, for instance, was Betsy DeVos as education secretary: DeVos is part of a multibillionaire family that have long been hefty donors to advocacy groups linked to the Kochs and championed charter schools and school choice, both popular causes in Koch world.

Further, Trump’s key energy adviser for months has been fracking multibillionaire Hamm, who has been mentioned as a potential energy secretary. While Hamm is expected to keep running his oil and natural gas company Continental Resources, two transition sources say he has pushed for Oklahoma governor Mary Fallin to be named interior secretary, and the state’s attorney general Scott Pruitt to run the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which he has sued to block climate change curbs.

Rebekah Mercer, the daughter of billionaire hedge fund executive Robert Mercer, who ploughed $2m into a pro-Trump Super Pac that she ran, is on the transition’s executive committee. Mercer has talked with chief White House strategist Stephen Bannon about having an outside group hire the big data firm Cambridge Analytica, which her father is a key investor in and Bannon sits on the board of, for messaging and communications drives to boost administration goals, .

“I think most of the network is pretty pleased” with the cabinet selections to date, said Texas investor Doug Deason who, in tandem with his billionaire father Darwin Deason, poured almost $1m into the Republican National Committee to help Trump and other GOP candidates. “They’re pleased Trump has softened his rhetoric.”

What they are about to find out, Kocjh and Cheny in particular, is that Cheny will split the Dem vote, but not the Republican vote if she runs as an independent.

Trump wants her to run.He will feed her, fatten her, troll her and use her like a pump handle. She will generate millons of votes for president Trump.

Liz is so obsessed with her hatred.. there is no way she is fit to serve anywhere.

How does she live with herself!

There is a lot of hate out here in the land. It feeds on itself..

No one has stirred up the left as has one man who was doing a great work. They are irrational ...and their reasoning makes no sense.

Biden, dems, are a wrecking crew, open border, and war seeker... why is there support for that!!

Just another DC politics circle jerk. He may as well waste the money on another Jeb run.

Meanwhile, the Dims, whom Koch and the Never Trumpers put into power, are sending another (remember Obambi's "stimulus") $700 billion to unions, environmentalists, etc. who will then spend half that money on re-electing Dimocrats.

And the progressives/leftists complain about "campaign finance" abuse. For thee, not for me!

Yes, Koch allies supported Trump in 2016 - but they bailed on Trump because they couldn’t control and manipulate him.

The Kocks are not for American values, or the American way. They are VIPs, who fund VIPs, who know no other way than to be worshipped by the lowlifes...I mean Us. They don’t get that DJT is not one of them, he doesn’t give a care about the status thing. He is a fixer, of buildings, problems and situations. McConnell and the Kocks are fixers like the Mob.

>>> You believe everything you read or hear? You think there are not wheels within wheels?

Not many people AT ALL are saying what I just said...

So i’ll ask you...

Where do you think I read or heard that?

I can actually think for myself thank you.

My position is a very unpopular one...

But based upon what I know about the vaccines, and things I have heard Trump say myself, He is looking more and more like an actor every day.

I have a return question for you though...

Do you still believe everything Q says?

Well then I don’t know what you meant by wheels within wheels.

I see this story as yet another example of Trump putting his faith in the wrong people... most likely even the enemy.

It’s kind of hard to be THAT stupid... unless your just an actor.
