That “three different union” part most likely has a part in the shutterdown decision. That and the envirofreek crowd in Portland.

You can bet that the union officials involved are themselves not going to suffer much from this layoff. That has been my experience with unions.

Exactly. I was a union member during a strike. A coworker showed me a picture of one of the Union reps show up in a nearly brand new 3 series BMW, tell every one to stay strong, refuse to answer any meaningful questions and scurry off.
