The U.S. is accelerating production of High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS, in order to help Ukraine, a Pentagon official has said.

Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition William LaPlante made the comments after visiting Lockheed Martin facilities in Camden, Arkansas that produce HIMARS and Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (GMLRS), according to a news release from the Department of Defense (DoD).

Might want to get the HIMARs munitions makers to increase production as well, yeah, given they only doing about 9K rounds a year......which the Russians easily go through in a day......?!

Only took DOD 3 months to figure out that they might want to speed up production of HIMARS...after giving away half of them. That’s an improvement.

Also, can’t help but notice that they didn’t mention any timetable. I can help there, figure 2 or 3 years...given all the crap that our bloated government requires (with BLM and Woke Training being the latest) before production can even begin.

Who is paying the MIC to produce them and with what authorized funds in the NDAA?

The per unit cost of weapons systems like HIMARS drops the more of them you producem. I’d much rather be sending them weapons than cash.

Me, you, all us US taxpayers.

We would be better off flushing the money down a toilet or protecting our own southern US border or helping homeless Vets, etc., etc., etc.

More HIMARS for the Russians to blow up, more $$$$ for the defense industry and more dead Ukrainians fighting a war that is already lost.

But, who cares about Ukrainian lives, right, Speedy? It's all about the defense industry and politicians being able to launder money to right places.

https://www.moonofalabama.org/2022/08/ukraine-game-changing-policy-moves-that-aint.html#more

Ukrainian channels are reporting that at least 60% of the HIMARS have been destroyed, and they are doubtful of the attempts to destroy the

bridge in Kherson. Another wonder weapon gone bust.

First saw this on Legitimniy, repeated by Rezident. Both reliably optimistic Ukrainian insider channels. HIMARS activity has definitely dropped off, so there isn’t any particular reason to assume they’re lying.

The thing about the HIMARS isn’t that there’s something particularly wrong with it. It’s a fine system. It’s just meant to function as part of a competent combined arms force. It has a specific role, and can’t single-handedly prop up a defeated army.

That’s probably why Bidens sending a “Special force” to Ukraine because they can’t manage their fighters and few who can operate what’s being sent to them - if it even makes it to the battlefield!

Ukrains military simply bit off more than can chew is an understatment - it’s a conflict they can never win without drawing in Nato members and they knew that from the get go.

I’ll take option 3!

📞 hello EU, grow up and be responsible for your back yard. The US will not be giving any more money, weapons, training etc., to Ukraine. You are 100% responsible now. Don’t call back. Figure it out and go do it. Stop being total liberal pansies! [clock]

Yes, even the embedded American operators and their direct link to US military satellites isn't enough to help.

Wait a minute, Comrade Caww...it was the Russians who invaded Ukraine...but you're saying that the Ukrainians bit off more than they can chew in defending their own country?

That makes no sense, Comrade!
