Former President Donald Trump has insisted that he immediately be re-installed as president or that a new election be called. His reasoning? A Mark Zuckerberg interview in which the Facebook founder reiterated his previous claim that the FBI warned him of a potential dump of Russian misinformation weeks before the 2020 general election that Trump lost to President Joe Biden.
Yes, the former president really did demand he be reinstated as president 664 days after losing the election. By any objective measure, it’s nuts. Batshit crazy.
Trump first made the bizarre demand on his fledgling social media platform Monday at midday, then “re-truthed” his comments at roughly 2 a.m. Tuesday:

If there was election irregularity and the current of the White House is illegitimate, what do YOU propose? Ignoring it?
Yes, President Trump should be sworn in or at the least the election should be immediately reeled with strict guidelines.
What is “batsh*t crazy” is believing the slow joe got more votes than the most popular president in a century.
Slow Joe, who could not scare up a dozen people at his election rallies, compared to Trump’s tens of thousands.
“Batsh*t crazy” is looking at video and corresponding cell phone evidence of thousands of people stuffing ballot boxes, and then going back to DNC headquarters for more, and thinking that the election was fair.

Yeah. A good example of how Trump’s unforced errors distracts from the real issues about the Biden debacle. This will get more air time than the flood of aliens across the border.

Of course the election what stolen, however when Trump does this, he gives these lefties opportunity to write these articles.
His demand actually makes a lot of sense; it’s only as bizarre as the fact that FBI misinformation made Big Tech withhold crucial information about Biden that likely changed the election outcome.
Big illegal acts should have big legal ramifications.
He’s trolling.

Trump shoots from the hip. No parsing or filtering of words. That’s one reason many folks, including me, admire him. But such behavior is absolutely a double-edged sword. It can often cause more damage than good.
Free Republic has wisely included a “Preview” button on the posting page. We can look over our prospective posts for errors, and reconsider our comments. The country needs Trump. And Trump needs an internal Preview button.
And as a side note, yes, I believe the election was stolen. But any remedy must come from the Supreme Court, and they must find something in the Constitution that applies. So far, nothing from them. So as aggravating as it is, we must look forward to 2024, try to overcome the fraud, and vote out whomever is sitting in the White House at that time.
Whether Trump is "batshit crazy" or not is irrelevant. What Trump wants is unconstitutional.
According to our constitution, once a President is sworn into office, the only way to remove him is via impeachment or the 25th amendment. And then once removed, the order of succession is very clear, and President Trump is not in it.
