US war-gamed with Ukraine ahead of counteroffensive and encouraged more limited mission

In the buildup to the current Ukrainian counteroffensive, the US urged Kyiv to keep the operation limited in both its objectives and its geography to avoid getting overextended and bogged down on multiple fronts, multiple US and western officials and Ukrainian sources tell CNN.

Those discussions involved engaging in "war-gaming" with Kyiv, the sources said -- analytical exercises that were intended to help the Ukrainian forces understand what force levels they would need to muster to be successful in different scenarios.

The Ukrainians were initially considering a broader counteroffensive, but narrowed their mission to the south, in the Kherson region, in recent weeks, US and Ukrainian officials said.

Unconscionable that the United States is even involved in Russian border concerns.   Especially when Idiot Joe will not control our own borders.

Time for some oldies but goodies:

Russia has 60,000 Ukrainian troops surrounded in Eastern Ukraine and is very close to securing the entire Eastern half of the country 3/11/2022, 12:46:55 PM · 108 of 182

The Russians have a “cauldron” surrounding 60,000 Ukrainian troops and their neo-Nazi Azov battalion buddies in Eastern Ukraine. They have at least three more “cauldrons” formed in Ukraine. Cities are encircled. They have a stranglehold on Ukraine. They a mass surrender and/or negotiated settlement to avoid the loss of life on both sides.3/7/2022, 12:07:39 PM · 192 of 235

I’m going to remember this post, smart ass. Because those 60,000 troops are still surrounded and
out of fuel and stuck there. Even the mainstream media is even reporting the battle is about to go down.

The bulk of their army is surrounded in Donbass with nowhere to go, just as I and others here have been saying for weeks. And, if they die, solely be the fault of Zelensky and his puppet masters. They kept poking the bear and, then, refused to surrender and let the DPR, LPR and Crimea go their own way.

This is exactly what Ukraine has done for the past six months. That is for those who have been paying attention. Not for those looking for excuses to get hysterical or accept what Russian state media says at face value.

There is a information blackout over Kherson to avoid giving the Russians any tactical advantage. We won't know what is happening until well after it happens.

Ministry of Defense of Russia
On September 1, the Kyiv regime attempted a major provocation to disrupt the arrival of the IAEA working group at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Ukrainian artillery is shelling the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and the meeting place of the IAEA mission with Russian specialists in the area of the village of Vasilyevka. Four shells exploded at a distance of 400 meters from the first power unit of the Zaporozhye NPP.

◽️In addition, at 6.20 Moscow time, on the coast of the Kakhovka reservoir, three kilometers northeast of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, the Kyiv regime landed two sabotage groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a total number of up to 60 people on seven high-speed motor boats. The saboteurs were blocked by units of the Russian Guard, which were guarding the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, and units of the Russian armed forces approached them to reinforce them. Currently, the destruction of the sabotage group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the involvement of army aviation helicopters is underway.

◽️At about 7.00 Moscow time, units of the Russian armed forces thwarted an attempt to land a tactical landing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on two self-propelled barges that left Nikopol a few kilometers from the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in the area of the village of Vodiane. As a result of the fire damage of the Russian armed forces, two self-propelled barges with tactical landing forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were sunk.

◽️Yesterday, on August 31, the armed forces of Ukraine attacked the territory of the nuclear power plant with three “kamikaze drones”. All unmanned aerial vehicles were neutralized by Russian electronic warfare systems on approach to the station. Two of them fell on the roof of the training center. There are no casualties or destruction.

Ukraine ping

I’d disagree. Hunter took cash from Moscow’s mayor and Burisma’s owner, who worked for two of Putin’s minions in Ukraine - Yanukovich and Azarov. Basically, Biden has only taken money from Russia.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Putin purchased a license to conquer Ukraine. When you pay a lobbyist in DC, you’re not buying the right to screw his daughter. Biden presumably figured he’d be facilitating regulatory approvals or helping with export licenses for Putin.

Biden’s timidity in arming Ukraine comes at no charge. He voted against kicking Saddam out of Kuwait. He advised Obama not to mount the risky operation to kill bin Laden. He handed back a high level CCP defector to the Chinese government.

Putin should count himself lucky. Trump threatened to bomb Moscow if Putin invaded Ukraine.

I doubt that’s what you had in mind when you voted for him.

From your article:

“Officials say they believe there is now increased parity between the Ukrainian and Russian militaries”

That is a significant trend, and a huge change since the start of the war, reflecting the huge difference in foreign support between the two sides.

The gist of the article seems to be that the war game results convinced them to not try a simultaneous push in Zaporizhzhia, and that the Kherson push should be a slower, more siege-like affair (although still mobile).
