The DOJ Inspection General is authorized to investigate civil and criminal actions within the Department.
The DOJ IG is Michael Horowitz. He is presently under investigation by the House GOP for conflict of interest in aiding the DOJ in the matter of raiding a congressional member’s personal devices related to the J6 committee.
The DOJ OIG is mandated to be independent of the DOJ. It’s role is to act as the watchdog over DOJ behavior and actions.
Clearly, it is not doing so.
