Trump tele-stumps for Diehl ahead of the Massachusetts primary, calls Doughty a ‘RINO’ and teases a Bay State visit (primary tomorrow)

Former state Rep. Geoff Diehl had a phone call with perhaps his most important supporter Monday, the last night before voters head to the primary polls Tuesday morning.

“Hello Massachusetts and Happy Labor Day everybody,” Former President Donald Trump said to open a “tele-rally” with the Diehl campaign just after 7 p.m.

Trump first endorsed Diehl last October, more than a year before November’s general election, and that support has been enough to keep his name on top of the polls for months despite a severely underfunded campaign, leaving him with a fairly comfortable polling lead heading into Tuesday’s Republican primary.

“I need to get every person in Massachusetts that’s voting, that’s allowed to vote — of course nowadays you don’t have to be allowed to vote you just go do whatever you want to do and we’ll end that — but everybody needs to go and vote for a really incredible champion for your rights and your values and your jobs, the next governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Geoff Diehl,” Trump said.

Why would he even bother…Are there really any Republicans in Massachusetts for him to have a rally for? Knowing Trump he could sellout Fenway Park and half the crowd would be Democrats

Democrats have been switching to Republican. Me, I’ve never switched parties from Democrat.

Here's the math. There are twice as many enrolled democrats as there are enrolled republicans. The sum of the democrats and republicans is less than the number of unenrolled voters. All these voters are eligible to vote. A trump visit would need to sway two thirds of the unenrolled to become Maura Healey's worst nightmare.
