You can kinda see both sides of the story. I’m compassionate but a business has to be a business.
Before I retired I used to stop by Popeyes or Churches on the corner of Cleveland and 5th avenue in Columbus . There would often be a drugged up bum or two in the lot asking for food and I would always buy them a box of chicken . Never had any problems and the employees always treated me well . The bums loved me ! They called me Whitey , heh . Sun bleaches my hair like it does PedoHitlers hairy legs , heh .
What was the reason to call the police I wonder.....usually the first thing they want to know is what the problem is.
“You need to send a patrol car because we have a paying customer trying to buy food”.
Stupid employees have no idea what a PR nightmare this could turn into for the company. SMH
So the customer is now the criminal gets the police called on her not the homeless guy?
Some people have a really warped sense of logic.......I’m referring to the idiot employees not you.
What a wonderful general manager. After all was said and done, he “let” them buy anything they wanted. That was white of him.
They showed everybody but the police- that means the cops must’ve been white
I know, it’s GoFundMe, but just adjust the “tip” to be $1 or $0 since they ban most conservative causes, make them pay, but not the cause:

Ok so one word in the contrary. Most businesses do not want people begging customers in the parking lot/premises. Just sayin
Then by all means call the police.....on the panhandler not the freakin’ customer.
If you read the whole article the manager finally stepped in with some common sense and provided meals to the customer AND the homeless guy at no charge.
If the employees had a lick of sense (which apparently they don’t) they would have let the manager handle the whole thing to begin with......that’s what a mangers get paid to do....manage.
Unfortunately the homeless are like feral cats - once you start feeding one then they all show up for the next feeding....thus driving away paying citizens.
Just look at Portland on a large scale. Their downtown is alll but empty of businesses...and their citizens are moving out of the city.
No - if customers want to do that buy an extra meal and take it out to the street. But even that’s troublesome.
Even better direct them to a community feeding station where they can eat every day.
I bet they were actually doing what management told them to do, and just got thrown under the bus.
“After all was said and done, he “let” them buy anything they wanted”
You didn’t read the whole article did you.
“She said they eventually got in touch with a general manager at the store who felt awful about the incident and allowed Ortega and the man to order anything they wanted that night for free.”
That’s the problem with the media. They don’t care to explain the situation, they go for the emotional headline. People have probably been begging at the drive thru and the business is trying to discourage it as most people find it annoying/threatening and would start to avoid the place all together. This woman decided to escalate the situation and probably refused to leave, blocking the drive thru. She could have easily told the guy to meet her away from the window and placed the order and handed it to him and the employees would never have even known. Instead, like so many of her generation, she decided to whip out her phone and make a tik-tok video.
She’s going to teach the bum to associate people with food. The restaurant doesn’t want them hanging around. I don’t blame them.
They are tired of a bum standing at the drive through bothering people.
“They are tired of a bum standing at the drive through bothering people”
Then why not call the police on HIM?
Looks like the manager thought different.
