Democrat legislators in Albany are planning to submit legislation that forces state minimum to follow inflation increases without ongoing legislative examination and approval. The upstate minimum wage is already almost twice the federal minimum hourly wage.

Correction:

The web site above is auburnpub.com; not "auburn.com" as in the header mistakenly.

Forced wage increase = inflation = forced wage increase = inflation = forced wage increase = inflation.. Rinse and repeat.

Oh crap, between Joe Stealin’s borrowing and the recursive effect of the law itself, it’ll be $100/hr by Christmas!

Following California’s lead, NY is dead set on committing economic suicide.

Why not “tie” Federal deficit spending to inflation, so the circle will be complete...

Ever heard of positive feedback? Better known as the snowball effect? Inflation causes wages to rise which causes inflation, which causes wages to rise which causes inflation, which causes wages to rise,... ad infinitum.

Price controls do nothing to increase productivity, which is the correct answer if we want to improve people’s standards of living we need to improve productivity. People who operate computers and backhoes get more done than people who operate pencils and shovels.

I have been told here the reason companies cant find workers is because wages are too low, not because people are too damn lazy and would rather live on the dole.

So what is it?

Forced wage increase = inflation = forced wage increase = inflation = forced wage increase = inflation.. Rinse and repeat.

The same politicians will simply ban price increases - the combination of automatic wage increase for inflation and a cap on prices will create economic nirvana/s

Wages are NOT causing inflation. Wages are so suppressed I wonder why there hasn’t been a revolution.

Bull. Increases in wages cause inflation at the margins. Frankly most of what we by buy little labor goes into it. Even fast food labor is only 30-35% of total cost to the retail consumer.

The reason companies cannot find workers is because the government is paying them exceeding well to not work, mostly through Covid emergency spending programs that are never going to end.

The compensation exceeds that of a person working a $40-50K per year job - more if they know how to game the system. And they do.

What can happen when you set up automatic pricing? Positive feedback loops...

What was the most expensive book ever?
