Looks like the Baltic countries are taking steps to keep out Putin's "Little Green Men".

Quite sensible.

“Looks like the Baltic countries are taking steps to keep out Putin’s “Little Green Men”.”

Not sure I’d be celebrating the actions of 3 tiny countries as it looks like the idea of punishing all Russian citizens, rather than Russian leaders, isn’t very popular in Europe (or the US for that matter), as only the most Extreme countries are willing to do it.

But they’ll still buy that gas, I’m sure!

This doesn’t punish “all Russian citizens”. Just the ones who want the privilege of crossing the border to buy luxuries like food and clothing.

Oh, and it also inconveniences the spies and the aforementioned “Little Green Men” who should be shot on sight as out of uniform enemy combatants.

“But they’ll still buy that gas, I’m sure!”

Russia isn’t selling it to them anymore. IMHO the Russians are doing the West a favor. They’re especially doing a favor for the US LNG industry.

Now the Israeli, Norwegian, and UK gas pipelines will finally be built and it will be decades before anyone bothers buying from Russia again.

I’m a little down but were I to read your obituary I’m sure I’d cheer up.

if they say russian citizens are needing liberation, then restricting those citizens seems prudent.

My understanding is that 15 years ago or so the population of Latvia was over 50% russian, the latvians were in the minority (perhaps only in Riga, the capital), and Latvia refused to provide ethnic russians citizenship unless they passed a strenuous language test (which most would fail). Russia denied them citizenship as well so they were kind of an ‘undocumented’ population in Latvia even though they were a generation or two over since they had arrived, so none were from Russia or had been to Russia.

How did that resolve itself? doesn’t the 50% of the population, the ethnic russian population, need to travel to Russia for family reasons etc?

I am curious.

I’m not your problem, as I’m not from your government.

Probably similar to Ukraine. If Russians are treated badly in Latvia, then Russia will help take care of the problem.

Again making my point that Russia must be destroyed.

you got any actual proof to back up that allegation?

cuz I'm thinking Russians in general aren't too popular in Europe right now, and will be even less so next spring if Putin keeps playing games with the gas supply

When this whole oil and gas thing eventually sorts out then it’ll be decades before the Russians could ever re-enter the Western energy markets.

Also, Donald Trump was spot on saying not to trust the Russians!!!
