— A Non-Violent Defendant Charged with ‘Seditious Conspiracy’ and Held Without Bail – Despite No Altercations with Police — PLEASE HELP ZACH AND HIS FAMILY!
This article is originally published at AmericanGulag.org, an affiliate of The Gateway Pundit.
Zachary “Zach” Rehl is a father, a husband, a Marine Corps Veteran, and an American Patriot who loves his country and was arrested last March 17, 2021, for attending the January 6 protests.
Zach was accused of Conspiracy (1) Obstruction of an Official Proceeding and Aiding and Abetting (2) Destruction of Government Property and Aiding and Abetting (3) Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds (4) Disorderly Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds (5) for attending the January 6, 2021 protests.
He is one of the Proud Boys being charged with Seditious Conspiracy and held without bail.
Zach’s trial is set for December 12, 2022. As of right now, his lawyer has filed motions to dismiss and he has a hearing on September 14 for detention.
Since his arrest, Zach has missed the birth of his daughter and he has never been able to hold his almost one-year-old child. He also has a teenage daughter who he misses greatly and has not seen since his arrest.
Zach was the provider for his household, and his absence has been a cause of great stress mentally, emotionally, and financially for his family.
In a recent letter delivered to Zach’s wife, the VA informed her that her husband’s benefits would be terminated.
“Based on the information in our letter dated June 13, 2022, we suspended your monthly compensation benefits effective September 1, 2022, which is the first day of the month following the 60-day due process period,” VA said in the letter.
Here is an excerpt of the email she sent to AmericanGulag.org:
I wanted to reach out regarding a further injustice happening to my husband, Zachary Rehl. He is one of the proud boys being charged with Seditious Conspiracy and held without bail; even though he is nonviolent, had no altercations with police, brought no weapons, or vandalized any property on January 6.
We just received a letter in the mail suspending my husband’s VA benefits. He is 100% disabled so this is a huge blow. According to the letter, they had apparently sent a letter in June warning us about losing his benefits but we never received it. We were aware that they were potentially suspending the benefits of those charged with seditious conspiracy but I was told to wait until I got the letter to act. Because I never got it, I was unable to fight this and they made a decision for us. Something I find highly concerning, is that these letters from the VA that are so important and require responses but they were sent via the regular mail when they should have been sent certified mail/signed for.
I’ve made attempts to contact the VA but they haven’t been very cooperative. There was no name of a person to contact on the letter and the number they did provide is just a general one. I was hung up on three times, was told that his file was sensitive and kept being transferred. When I was finally connected to someone who was supposed to be able to view my husband’s information, they were still unable to read it. Supposedly they couldn’t even see that he had even served. They had no idea what I was talking about when I told them about the letter. I was told that the veteran had to call and that they couldn’t help me. Considering my husband is being held without bail, it’s not a possibility.
Zach hasn’t been convicted. He doesn’t have a trial until December. According to the VA’s own website, they do not take benefits away until 60 days past conviction.
Zach committed NO VIOLENCE on January 6. Now his government wants to destroy him and his family.
Below are the screenshots of the letter sent by the Department of Veterans Affairs:
The Swamp is the enemy of The People.
They show no mercy, they should expect none.
Joe Biden going after the MAGA people. President Trump would put a halt to this nonsense.
I long for the day when the Swamp is destroyed.
Two and a half years from now is far too late. We are such a spineless citizenry now.
First off... Charged, not convicted. In their own letter, it stipulates these forfeitures can only occur upon conviction! Do I detect double speak or hypocrisy?
This is the most disturbing part of everything that has happened since the 2020 election and subsequent vote fraud coup that installed the CCP puppet.
The hostile foreign entities want people to be afraid of the government. Afraid to protest.
FedGov is pure evil. Top to bottom. Every office.
Punished until the prosecution proves he is innocent.
So Rehl is losing his benefits just because he was arrested. What happened to the principle of “innocent until proven guilty”?
That’s a rhetorical question. I already know the answer. That protection only applies to radical leftists and career criminals.
Bttt.
5.56mm
More anarcho-tyranny.
The OVER THE TOP repercussions about denying the election was fair SHOULD SHOW everyone they are DAMNED AFRAID of the truth coming out there is absolutely NO NEED to treat people this way if there was NOTHING TO HIDE!! They are trying to scare us into dropping the subject EVERYONE knows by now that Biden was INSTALLED and did not win the election!! Very few brain dead citizens honestly BELIEVE that Biden won that election!!
100%
The benefits won't be forfeited until conviction but the law says they must be suspended after indictment. If he's acquitted he'll get his back benefits.
This isn't the VA's fault, they're just following the law.
Blame Congress.
Indeed! When I came upon this concept a year or so ago the MOAL (mother of all lightbulbs) when on. This notion of Francis’ made everything crystal clear.
“So Rehl is losing his benefits just because he was arrested. What happened to the principle of “innocent until proven guilty”?”
Suspended. Till he goes to trial?
They'll probably never see that money.
This violates Coffin vs. U.S. (1894)
United States, 156 U.S. 432 (1895), was an appellate case before the United States Supreme Court in 1895 which established the presumption of innocence of persons accused of crimes.
